We are just hopeless and Irredeemably corrupt! "I don't understand."

If you see the recent "arms audit report", God knows, you'll shed tears. Our military leaders are just too corrupt..... Jesus Christ!

It is so brazen and in your face, it's so unfortunate. If the past military/politicians leaders don't burn in hell, nobody on earth would go to hell.

Thank God, we have all them Dasuki, Amosu, Badeh and the rest in jail. Witch-hunt or not, the levels of corruption in the military has to stop.

I mean, we paid for 42 second hand T-72 Tanks at over $2.2 million a unit. That's unit price of a brand-new Tank. The company who collected $2.2 million dollars from us for each of those Tanks, filled a lawsuit in the US explicitly stating that a similar T-72 for which Nigeria paid 2.2 million dollars for cost them $88,000.
I just pity those soldiers who died in the North east and Niger Delta. this country is not worth die for! this attitude of the use of middle men in the Niger Delta which is even within the territory is part of what is still increasing the struggle and restiveness in the region!
Our govt is fantastically corrupt. cheesy cheesy grin

The corruption is so much of an issue. Hence all hands need to be on deck as this government tries to rid the military out significant corruption levels.

With the amount of money released, we could have bought 100+ (MBT-3000, T-90 or T-72AV).

Well, that's simply because the legendary AK has literally tons of derivatives. The Galil, Beryl, Type-56C etc etc are some of the derivatives of the AK.

The Nigerian Army use two derivatives of the AK for Special forces and Rangers.

WZ 2004 Beryl for Armed Forces Special Forces.

ARSENAL Assault Rifle AR-M1F for Nigerian army Rangers.

Nigerian Army confused, asks wanted man, Ahmed Bolori, to ‘go home’ after he turned himself in

The Nigerian military asked a man it declared wanted to go home after he reported at one of its facilities in Borno State.
Ahmed Bolori, the coordinator of the Fa’ash Foundation and the Partnership Against Violent Extremism and resident of Maiduguri, was declared wanted alongside two others on Sunday.
The Nigerian Army in a statement said the three, which included journalist, Ahmad Salkida and Aisha Wakil, a lawyer, were declared wanted for their alleged ties to the Boko Haram sect.
The Army said the three refused to provide useful information to authorities despite having clear and unfettered access to the sect and also held them responsible for the Boko Haram video that was released on Sunday.
The video purportedly showed the Army conducting area bombardment of an unknown location where the abducted Chibok girls are kept, killing many of them in the process.
The Defence Headquarters denied killing the girls and said it was also analysing the video to establish its authenticity.
In a message released by Farook Kperoogi, a U.S.-based Nigerian journalism professor, Mr. Bolori reported at “the top military barracks in Maiduguri, waited for more than two hours, but there was no one to interrogate or arrest him.”
Mr. Kperoogi posted the development on his Facebook page which he said was part of the conversation he had with Mr. Bolori.
Mr. Kperoogi also attached a WhatsApp conversation in which Mr. Bolori could be seen discussing with an official of the Defence Military Intelligence about how and where he could turn himself in for interrogations.
Mr. Kperoogi said Mr. Bolori was later told to “go home” after spending more than two hours waiting and making frantic calls to Army hierarchy to come and detain him, having been declared wanted.
The announcement by the Army declaring Messrs. Bolori, Salkida and Wakil wanted has triggered debates across the world.
The spokesperson for the Army, Sani Usman, could not be reached to comment for this story Monday morning. He did not answer or return calls made to him.

Read the full statement by Mr. Kperoogi below:
It is now self-evident that no one in the highest reaches of governance and security enforcement in Nigeria is thinking. How can you declare people “wanted” when you haven’t even invited them for questioning–and they haven’t resisted your invitation? I just got off the phone with Ambassador Ahmed Umar Bolori, one of the people declared “wanted” by the Nigerian military.
He told me he called the Chief of Army Staff, the spokesperson of the Nigerian military who announced him “wanted,” and other top military officers and said he was at their beck and call and didn’t need to be declared “wanted” since he wasn’t in hiding.
He then went ahead and turned himself in at the top military barracks in Maiduguri, waited for more than two hours, but there was no one to interrogate or arrest him.
He called and texted the chief of army staff and the military spokesperson again and pleaded with them to send someone to detain, arrest, interrogate, or do whatever they wanted to do to him because he wanted to clear his name.
He was later told to go home and return the following day! They told a “wanted” man to go home and come back the next day! Can you believe that? First, he is personally known to the chief of army staff and to the military spokesman. These people also know his home in Maiduguri.
They know where to get him if they want to. Yet they declared him “wanted.” Is there any parallel to this level of puzzling incompetence in the world? Who declares people “wanted” without any interest in seeing, much less interrogating, them?

Nigerian Journalist Ahmad Salkida Wanted by Nigerian Army Over Boko Haram Video

The Nigerian army has said that a journalist and two others are wanted for questioning after the armed group Boko Haram released a new video purporting to show the schoolgirls it kidnapped more than two years ago.

The army says it wants to question Ahmad Salkida and two other persons, Ahmed U Bolori and Aisha Wakil, because of their alleged link with Boko Haram.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the acting director of army public relations, said in a press statement issued on Sunday: “There is no doubt that these individuals have links with Boko Haram terrorists and have contacts with them.

“They must therefore come forward and tell us where the group is keeping the Chibok Girls and other abducted persons to enable us rescue them.”

Hours before Boko Haram released the video purporting to show the abducted Chibok girls, Salkida said he had seen the footage that he claimed was “exclusively” sent to him by the fighters.

Wakil, a lawyer, was in contact with the Nigerian government during the 2013 amnesty negotiations with Boko Haram fighters, Premium Times Nigeria reported.

Bolori is known as coordinator of the Faash Foundation and the Partnership Against Violent Extremism (PAVE).

He lives in Maiduguri, Boko Haram’s birthplace.

The kidnapping of the Chibok girls has become topical political issue in Nigeria, with the government and military criticised for their handling of the incident and their failure to rescue any of the girls.

About 2,000 girls and boys have been abducted by Boko Haram since 2014, with many used as sex slaves, fighters and even suicide bombers, according to Amnesty International.

Over the past few months, Boko Haram has increasingly used suicide and bomb attacks despite President Muhammadu Buhari declaring that the terrorist group has been “technically” defeated.

“There have been a lot of incursions from reports that we have seen, of our military making incursions successfully into areas hitherto held by the insurgents,” Mike Omeri, former head of the government’s Nigerian Information Centre, told Al Jazeera on Sunday.

So, to you, love of nation is about financial rewards...which was why i introduced the Boko terrorists dimension. You can see that since soldiering can also be viewed in terms of career, it makes little sense to infer that soldiers should or should not die for the Nation...

in other words, you're mixing sentiments with practicality, having your cake and eating it,which you shouldn't do if you want to make a strong case for why Nigerians shouldn't be patriotic, which is a largely sentimental position

in such a sentimental position as patriotism the extent of political corruption usually makes no difference...love of place of birth is all

Woman declared wanted by the Nigerian Army reports to military

Aisha Wakil, a Nigerian lawyer declared wanted by the military on Sunday, is currently at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Ms. Wakil is amongst three persons declared wanted by the Nigerian Army on Sunday for alleged ties to Boko Haram.
The three have maintained that they were not on the run and faulted the decision of the Army to declare them wanted.
Ms. Wakil told PREMIUM TIMES she arrived at the Defence Headquarters moments ago, but was not immediately taken in for interrogations.
Ms. Wakil said front desk officers asked her what she wanted and she told them she was declared wanted yesterday. But the officers said they were not aware of such and she asked them to read the newspapers online.
“They told me they will go and read and get back to me,” Ms. Wakil said.
A few minutes later, a supervisor entered the reception to collect Ms. Wakil’s passport and told her he’ll return 10 minutes later.
The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Sani Usman, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that Mrs. Wakil had submitted herself.
“I have been reliably informed that she has reported at the Defence Headquarters and she has been directed to the Directorate of Military Intelligence,” Mr. Usman said.
The two other people declared wanted also say they were contacted earlier. They have also offered to make themselves available for questioning.

Top 5 facts about Ahmad Salkida

Following the release of a propaganda video by Boko Haram, showing the captured Chibok girls, the Nigerian army has declared three people wanted, the statement which was released by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the acting director army public relations. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter “There is no doubt that these individuals have links with Boko Haram Terrorists and have contacts with them. They must therefore come forward and tell us where the group is keeping the Chibok Girls and other abducted persons to enable us rescue them. We are therefore calling on all Nigerians and peace loving people to give us useful information on their whereabouts. We are also liaising with other security agencies for their arrest if they failed to turn up,” he said. Those declared wanted are: Ahmad Salkida, (Ambassador) Ahmed U. Bolori and Aisha Wakil. What though do we know about Ahmad Salkida particularly, since it seems he is of special interest? Below are 5 facts about him:
1. Ahmad Salkida now in his 40s is a journalist and writer, who has his own personal website and also writes for Premium Times, a  news media outlet.
2. Ahmad Salkida is a native of Biu, Borno state, Nigeria. This might have led to his access to the Boko Haram sect. He was the last journalist who interviewed the Boko Haram founder, Muhammad Yusuf in July, 2009 shortly before the violent uprising of the sect, and the downhill trend.
3. He does not currently live in Nigeria, but relocated to Dubai about three years ago, after he was accused of being part of the Boko Haram sect and had to leave for safety reasons. He has served as a mediator between Boko Haram and Nigerian army several times.
4. On Tuesday 29, July 2009, at the height of the Boko Haram mayhem, he was arrested by the police of the state and according to his report, the police were ordered to kill him. This order was later rescinded.
5. He once spent 5 days in detention with the other members of the Boko Haram sect at the police headquarters in Maiduguri. This was when Muhammad Yusuf, the Boko Haram sect initial leader and his followers, were killed. For now only one of those declared wanted has reportedly turned himself in to the police, and was told to leave and return.

Below is the picture of the said Ahmad Salkida
