Yes, we are in Nigeria. So can you produce nigerian legislation that makes journalists' sources privileged information? (I will then produce court judgements that state that it is not privileged information).

The idea of protecting sources is one of the ethics of journalism and people see it as a noble ideal, but it is not one that is enshrined in law (unlike attorney-client privilege or doctor-patient confidentiality). Many governments have compelled journalists to reveal their sources, especially in cases that involve national security or the lives of people.

Mr Ahmed has many times offered to co-operate with the military.

Also it must be noted that we cant force the UAE to extradite him.....A calm friendly approach from the National security adviser or the president himself would have been much better on something as sensitive as this.

Even if he had links to give up...trust me his sources will go cold due to this ill-advised public announcement

I totally agree with you (I have made similar posts back in 2012, 2013 and 2014). But that isn't what I was arguing about.

I understand

Its just sad that the President is as clueless as a civilian in handling a matter that in all honesty can be easily tackled with the right steps.

The same Ahmed reported a division in the ranks of BH vis-a-vis alleigance to ISIS and instead of NA to pounce and draw disgruntled members to their sides they are like 'we dont care bye' angry angry angry
