There is vast amounts of unproven deposits in the Benue basin but is Benue really part of the north .if oil is found in the Benue Basin I fear the Hausa FULANIS eliminate the peaceful minorities of the middle belt and lay claim to their land

It is much very likely that crude oil may be discovered in commercial quantity in the North but that has not still solved the problem of mono economy. Diversification is the answer. Agriculture should be fully explored to the maximum potential.the recession is biting hard in all the oil exporting countries. Oil is no longer the gold mine. Natural gas and solid minerals are presently grossly under utilized.

No it won't.

The transit fee is an agreement between nations.

The money goes into the nation where the transit pipeline is passing through. It does not go into any private pockets.

For example.....assuming North secedes...they either pay the South to transport oil through the South territory...or they pay Niger and Algeria for allowing Northern oil to transit to the Med sea.

You mentioned Dangote. Dangote is going to be taxed heavily as a Northerner in a Southern country. He benefits from a United Nigeria more than a disunited one.
