My name is Henry, I was born in Lagos and I live most significant of my years there, which makes people to address me as Lagos boy here in Calabar where I schooled.

It was 17th of December, 2015 and it was the end of my year two. Thank God I made it alive. Schooling in a long distance away from home is really a big challenge; from exasperating lecturers to stinging hunger. All I knew was I can not die yet so I kept my struggle on. As I was planning to travel back home to Lagos; Normally I should be happy, but I had ambivalent feelings; because the house I was living off camp had been sold and we had been given ultimatum to vacate the premises and it would expire at the end of that month we where then, and I had no choice than to travel ;(. Sadness stole my joy. Anyway, I still had to travel with the little cash on me, because I had no money then to rent another apartment.

While I was in Lagos, the person I scotted with rented a self contain for me and then left Calabar for good to Ijebu Ode where he works for a big company as an engineer. I was flabbergasted and returned to Calabar a week after new year to relocate my properties.

The new compound happened to be built like a hotel, where every condominion has its room number. Mine was room 30 and the compound was filled with corpers except the two flats at the front that was occupied by people who were not serving. Now I live alone and corpers were eyeing me thinking my parents are related to Adenuga, because my bed was a Kingsize bed where a play of sex would have been carried out on to give perfect pleassure. My room was well furnished with home theatre, DVD player, freezer, micro wave, air conditioner, standing fan and desiners graffiti on my wall. These made any corper ready to open her fresh laps for me to work on.

Thanks to my sponsor who had left all his belongings for me to use for the main time till he returns. Since I knew those corpers would be ready to run things with me, but at the expense of what I have, whereas, the truth is that I had nothing of my own. Because I do not want to mess myself in the long run, I avoided any corper that had made advances to seduce me. Even to that very one that appeared naked to me.

I always went on my way without sociallizing with any of them, so they started harbouring discord for me. Now they just disliked me with passion. What elde would I do to make them know that I alway drink garri with no sugar and groundnut. I even make trekking to school my hubby. Just as the saying goes "not all that glitters id gold" now I have been prone to hatred by those who are expecting free giving from me.

Anyway, I manage to pay my light bills regularly, even at the expense of my feeding just to keep my reputation. Schooling far away from home is not easy. After a while, the corpers who happened to be 98% of girls started to understand my pattern of life. Now I have helped myself with a home lesson that I do to attend to small issues I faced.

On July 23, school vacated for first semester, but I did not travel because of financial constraints; by then most corpers travelled including people who harbour 3 different self cons in my condominion which contained 6 self cons.


On August 8 my neighour whose name was Joy returned, gosh! Why did this b*tch ever return?

... Joy a corper who lived in room 26 usually comes in at night with one handsome guy who happens to be her boyfriend. She was so uppity and alway fond of herself. Not knowing she was around over night, I was shocked to hear a bang on my door on that thursday morning on the 11th of August . Bang! Bang!! Bang!!! "Yes! Who is that?" I asked, "come out and see for yourself" she said. Immediately I recognized the devil's voice. I ran quickly to open the door, leaving what was on the fire. "good morning" I greeted. "good morning" she restorted. "please did you help meto see anybody with my laptop?" she asked. Startled me, I answered her with "no", then I introspected into why she could just come to ask me a kind of aptitude test question, as if I was searching for admission to enrol in her programme. "How come that you are looking for your laptop?" I asked. "i kept it on my bed and I went out, and I believe it was taken by 3:00pm by somebody that knew I was not at home." I excused her for a moment and then ran back to the kitchen to off the gas. On returning to her, I followed her to her room to be a slueth about the matter. She believed the culprit would have used long stick with glue at the end to glue the laptop and use to to drag it closer, cos the bed was far away from the window. Whereas I thought that the culprit would have used a spared key. She argued it that she does not share her key, more over the person would have taken more than the laptop.
Anyway, there was nothing I could do whether the culprit penetrated through the window or not. Mine was just to show some sympathy. By 10 am, I left for home lesson, which I do to sustain my life. I later returned by 2:35pm. I came back to eat cos I would still be going to another lesson of far distance, what did I see? Policemen , after I had eaten for me to lock my door, the team leader of the police accosted me. "young man, do you live here?" he asked me, "my voice denied me as if there was lumps in my throat, "yes" I muttered. "do yo know that your neighbour's laptop is missen?" I nodded, for the police inspector to continue ,"she has opened a file with us and that is why the DPO ordered me to invite you all to the station." I was running out of time so I asked "how long would it take officer?" I inquired."it can take 100year or less, depending on your answer" he replied. *Gosh! I hate police* then we went to the next condominion to invite other corpers. God so doing, almost all the babes were cooking, so they fixed the invitation to the next day by 10am.

Young man, if you know you will not be chanced by 10am, you can come by 6am or 6:30am we are alway on duty. *did you guys smell a rat in that clause?* Already, Joy had been emphasising that nobody would have taken the laptop if not somebody from our creep, which she was meaning she suspected me. Lol. God so doing, Tunde a graduate student cut in and narrated how two of his laptop had been stolen as well through the window, to second it, Titi also lamented that her's was taken from her through her window as well while she was even indoors, seeing how the laptop was moving she shouted "theif! Theif!!" but was to no avail. The rogue moved faster like a flash.

Just the story lines of these fellow, Joy had a second thought, but still argued, could anybody had jumped through the fence? Everybody almost answered yes. "young lady, you need to follow us to the station now to write your statement" the inspector said to Joy. Oga, I will join the others tomorrow to your station, I beg to take my leave then I went to hustle for my daily bread...

... On reaching my home lesson, it was like I was left alone in this world, I kept on pondering what might possibly happen to me the next day. I was not myself through out the extra moral class. Several thoughts over clouded my mind. I knew the case might turn out to be a political gerrymandering, as well finding who to make a scape goat for another person's misfortunes.
What bothered me most is that I got no relative here in Calabar, and nobody to vouch for me if she eventually points at me to be who she suspected. Imagine the level of vilification it would land me.


Fear grip me, and my mind was swollen with sadness.
"master what is the problem?" Emma my student asked. "police" I said in a sullen voice as if I was about to cry. "tell grandma, she can help you to make some calls through her connections" Emma suggested. "ok" I restorted.
Shortly after lesson, I hurriedly went to explain everything to Mrs. Benson (Emma's grandma). " when you get there tomorrow, call me to tell me what is going on" grandma said. I felt likea heavy burden had just been taken away from me. Yet I did not stop, I called Olu, the man that rented the apartment for me, and I explained everything. Immediately he called his barrister and Fred (Olu's friend). "tell me how it goes when you get to the station tomorrow, and dont talk too much" Olu said.

Still I was not satisfied, I call my congress president, to make him aware, since I am the scribe of the parliament. He also told me to get back at him on any matter araising at the station the next day.
Moreso, I did not stop there, I called some police colleagues of mine to inform them, since it is their job, and they may give me some ideas of what would possibly happen, based on similar past occurance. One of them immediately called the station and enquired for who was handling the case, then had little talks with him.
I was not hungry through out that day, I lost appetite and my sleep. I was just staring at the ceilings through out the night. I hate anything involving police and crimes, I kept on imagining the next day. Would I be hand cuffed? Would I be beaten, would I remain in detention, would I be asked to provide what somebody lost? My mind's mind was just full of thoughts...

... As I woke up the next day, it was already 8:35am. I knelt down, thank God for the sleep and committed the day in His hands. I dashed into the bathroom to clean up, cos the police may find offence in my mouth odour and decide to arrest me for not brushing. I made sure I washed and scrubed every part well.
By 9:58am I arrived at the police station. The IPO in charge gave me seat, while I waited for the other members of the compound.
Still by 11:20 nobody showed except me. The detective then tool me to a small choky room and gave me a paper for me to write my statement.
Shortly after 15minutes, I finished and submitted. The detective was impressed with my write ups. He permitted me to go and re-invite us the next week Monday. At the long run, Joy could not suspect a person.
Most especially, I was not harassed at the station, due to several calls that had trooped in from different posts. If not, I would have been in cell by now because the policemen focused their attention on the lady. Making me dumb fold,
Truly, if one has nobody around in situation like this, he would be the scape goat.

Morals: keep your belongings well, cos nobody will be blamed for your undoing.

Thank you for the compliment. No be say I sabi fear like that. Just that Nigeria is not like oversea. They give unfair favour to the person who report a case first. Moreso, door wey corper babe fit open, shey I fit open am?? You self reason am na. She get natural parkages for body wey she fit present, but me only get God. Lol

Is that unical? Person get mind call police for person for university environment?

I don't want to mention some schools where if you dare harass/intimidate a random student who turns out to be a frat hitman, heads would surely roll later. No be only people wey wear uniforms be military men.

hmmm! Bros I hail o. Right now I gat no disturbance on laptop issue. I was wandering where did want me to get 192,000 to replace the missen one for her? From my year one till now put together, I have not payed 192,000 for school fees .
