I have almost completed the construction of my bakery, I want to have an idea how much are the staff paid? Should I make it commission based or salary based? I want to give them a competitive pay.

Hmm ,depends on location ,business model i.e. Is it a bread shop where people come in to buy bread or u will move the bread out with vehicles to sell ,generally start with salary and move to commission when volume of bag increases ,my 2 kobo as someone who owns a bakery

Thank you very much, the bakery is in kaduna, am going to buy two buses for distribution, I will very happy if you will guide me on somethings I may find difficulty in as a new entrant,

I have just received my trademark acceptance next is nafdac but everything is ready apart from the buses and ingredients.

Since it's a new investment, get the workers and let them work for one month. Then gather the revenue you have actualised, calculate you profit and see if you'd be able to pay them their salary.


If you should go by commission, you will make losses because it's a new venture..
Eventually, your business will start to flourish, then you can pay them according to what is sold.. It takes patience and perseverance. Goodluck!

I think u should concentrate more on making ur products better than that of other bakeries...

i have worked in a bakery before, dont get it twisted, bakery workers are paid per bag of flour produced. anything aside from that, you are on your own

If u hire professional bakers, u will pay them salary, buh part time bakers, na wages ooo i.e weekly

Hello op ...its simple. You have to employ bakery assistant they get the lowest around 20- 35 depending on your bakery capacity. Their job is to wash pans , slice bread and every other job except for mixing and baking. A mixer you pay around 25-40 and a baker around 30-45. But you must be sure you employ a mixer and baker with expertise.

My bro, don't be deceived bakers (those who bake the bread) don't receive salaries but but they charge per bag. Here i pay #800 per bag. So if you produce 3 bags, its times #800.
For you not to be cheated, you must know the quantity of loaves a bag produces, you must have idea of bread making or else you will find it difficult to cope in that business.
Ask any question about the business.

I go soon go buy agege bread. I go ask them when i get to their factory.
