"Home grown solutions" from the man who runs to London at every opportunity? This is a man who has refused to engage with the Nigerian media but will talk to the foreign press at will. |

Interesting that most of the money the IMF has given out of the last ten years has been to developed European countries. They don't know how to manage their economies either, and the European Central Bank has been using extreme and desperate measures to keep many European countries from collapsing. The IMF has actively participated in the destruction of Greece, which has gone from a 1st world country to a 3rd world country in just 10 years. Do not trust the IMF. Listen to what they have to say but decisions must reflect local realities and the IMF should not have a say in whatever happens, no matter how much money they dangle before the government. |

I am not a Buhari supporter, but I am with him 100% on this. Nobody can show me one third world country that has developed by following IMF/World Bank prescriptions. People need to understand that these organizations simply act to enslave third world nations for the good of their western financial masters. We have everything that is required for a prosperous nation(Natural resources, fertile land, educated population) all we need is a serious focused govt to put in place the right polices so that all these attributes can come together for economic growth. We do not need the IMF/World Bank |

UrennaNkoli:This is not true ma. You really have no idea how IMF cripples the economies of third world countries under the guise of helping out. |

Home grown solution? Fine! How I wish baba found home grown solution to his ear problem and his children education too but NO, they say one thing and do the contrary when it concerns them and their families. Foreign medical care for the president and foreign education for his children are not in tandem with home grown solution he is preaching. I see too much hypocrisy. |

I think buhari is doing a good job. Because the country is just like when you see someone giving fish, you won't bother to know HOT TO do things yourself, but when the person seize to give you the fish or you decide to start killing the fish for yourself, there are lots of hardship one will face. So that's what we are experiencing now in this country. Let's say NO to the westerner and let WE NIGERIANS begin to think POSITIVE. |

Godfullsam:Thanks for your mature reasoning. For not allowing your dislike of the person of Mr president to becloud your sense of reasoning. This is what many of us should emulate. We should desist from hating. Let us criticize when necessary, and applaud when they do well. Left or right, all politicians are the same. We should stop doing follow - follow, while they mortgage our future. Stay blessed. |

bjdon:The IMF and World Bank do not compel any nation to borrow. It is countries like Nigeria that solicit loans from these organisations. See below: Nigeria’s government is in talks for concessionary loans worth $3.5 billion from the World Bank and African Development Bank to help finance a planned record budget this year, Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said.http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-01-31/nigeria-seeks-3-5-billion-of-loans-to-buoy-spending-in-oil-rout In reality, Nigeria is already following prescriptions from the IMF. This is why subsidy was removed, electricity prices were jacked up and the Naira was allowed to fall from 197 to the dollar. The things our government say and what they do are different. |
