Lol, a lot of them don't understand the projection of power (soft and hard) and regional politics. Hence I always laugh when folks label Nigeria as the "giant of Africa" due to just population alone. If it were that easy - India and China ought to be the giant of the world then lol.

As a country, even for national security, your military has to be as strong as the military of countries within ya region/axis. Africa is a region/axis in international politics, while West Africa is a sub-region. Let's say a war kicks off between Nigeria and any of these other countries - how's Nigeria going to protect/defend itself against external aggression from any of them, with these obsolete hardware?

Nigeria is just big for nothing, even in Africa. Yet some people think western countries are scared of Nigeria - hysterical. Militarily - it's one of the most backward in Africa. In terms of institutions - it's one of the most backward in Africa. Ditto development index and financially. It's just sad.
