The only occasion the last administration borrowed was to pay fuel importers.

Ngozi made that statement of borowing to pay salaries after she complained of the huge money being demanded by fuel importers as subsidies.

The govt was forced to use a huge chunk of their monthly revenue which was set aside to pay salaries to offset the subsidy claims of fuel importers.

This then made the FG to borrow from banks to augment FG salaries.

If FG was borrowing to pay as you claim then why was FAAC distribution to states and LGs never delayed?

I remember when people were saying some time two years ago that the PDP's brilliant figures did not translate into better living to the Nigerian man.

We in the economic circles laughed at such shallow-mindedness. The PDP did not do anything special. They just put the right people in charge of financial institutions and gave them some level of freedom. From Ngozi to Soludo to Sanusi to Okereke- Onyiuke to Oteh. Excellent minds.

Because those who were speaking, spoke nonsense. Ignorants.

As research has proved, the larger the earnings of the middle class, the better the lives of the common man. KPMG data showed that the PDP increased the middle class section in Nigeria by 11%.

That was massive. It was the largest growing middle class in Africa.

Buhari has come to not only contract that number, but turned it into a negative figure.

Without the purchasing power of the middle class, the lower cadre populace will suffer. It's simple economics. The middle class are the ones who will build houses in Nigeria and utilise low-level skilled workers; the middle class will purchase things in malls and ensure the malls employee staffs; the middle class will enroll their wards in schools, universities and colleges.

I could go on and on. The elites won't help an economy. They will suck it and spend their earnings abroad.

Like acquiring buildings in Dubai.

China's, Singapore's, Indonesia's growth were all middle-class driven. Go and check it up.

It is this class of Nigerians that Buhari's non-economic policy and overall incompetence is hurting very badly. What may be more hurting will be the recovery period after he is gone in 2023. Could take decades. Potentially.

PDP should be ashamed of the poor economy it handed over to Buhari! The mindless looting that took place in different sectors by PDP appointees and the serious padding of the budget by the National Assembly under Jonathan watch should make the party ashamed! We all knew the real interest rate then was double digits. The party frittered away the windfall from high oil prices then as well as the healthy external reserves and excess crude account robust balances. We all know Buhari had to deal with the challenges of taking over from a roughish hostile opposition party as well as plummeting oil prices and mindless attacks on oil installations in the niger delta leading to low crude production for export and worsening power supply. Give it to Buhari, he has demonstrated courage and commitment to service in the face of local and international distractions, especially from bitter PDP thieves. Things can only get better! I'm affected by his economic restructuring policies, but I'm hopeful that good days are around the corner. So, PDP should stop the meaningless noise about performance. It is satanic!!
