I wish we have a President who is in tune with 21st Century, they could suggest many economy ideas but does Buhari understand them. Is he ready to listen & implement? The problem is not that we cannot solve the economy issues facing our country but the refusal of Buhari to listen to sound opinion has been the challenge. |

Rrankdonga:Thank you jare. The write up says the emergency power for stimulating the economy originates from the Vice President's office, and has not been presented to the President's team. Lack of communication or proper streamlining of information in the presidency is a problem. |

What a pity and the most stupid support against constitutional democracy. Say No to constitutional dictatorship. The presidency has even denied this Lagos - Ibadan molue rumour. It won't work. Separation of powers is a constitutional mandate hence the bill is dead on arrival. |

He doesn't need emergency power bill to sustain the economy, what he need as de president is to pass new bills that will bail out the nation from economic recession. And if it's a good one, then the nation will definatly follow suit. Nigerian politics has not mature, giving power to Apc, when all they can do for the past 15months is blaming game on political opponent (PDP). using state security to embarrass opponents, and you want to grant them power bill. Mean while we were told! This is what you get from a man and his ministers who were not trained to function in what position the are running as ministers. If this present govt will have to succeed at any of is economic plans, he has to let go some of his ministers in is administration, they are not creative in solving problems! rather they are running the economy with politics, and that was their first step of doom recession the nation is experiencing. God bless Nigerians! Drop my pen. |

Sensible adults, who conduct business, already know this is one of the best thing that this admin has ever thought of, though coming late. For example, is it not crazy when it takes 6 weeks to advertise tenders some 20 years ago, and it still takes 6 weeks to do same in 2016 with various online platforms available? When a man can name his dog whatever in Abeokuta, and Nigerians in Cambodia, Mexico, Australia, UAE, USA, UK, Spain Canada, Kenya, Kano, Aba, Ekiti, and everwhere can know of it in few hours? You want lightning progress like the west, but have archaic laws stuckfxckeupuras.s? Some of the amendments might not actually be granted as presented/requested, they can be modified with intelligent checks and balances, but man, we need to get to work . . . |

Femich18:every good Nigerians pray and wishes better days for this country but we need to remember this say" absolute power corrupt absolutely". This connote that in future this power can wheels who ever that possessed it to derail b4 he even realise himself. So, checks and balance propounded by scholar A.V.Diecy I think is necessary. But 4 now lets wait and see the real details of this intended bill. |

It unfortunate that most of you on Nairaland are just secondary school leaver or maybe majority of you are still in the tertiary institution.. Some of you dont know whats right.. Anyways.. "THE PRESIDENT HAS PROPOSED AN EMERGENCY POWER BILL". its a good development.. IT HAS ALOT OF BENEFIT If the gluttons and niccompu in the National Assembly will let it be.. Because the proposal WOULD HELP TO MOVE THE ECONOMY OUT OF RECESSION.. Lets put sentiment apart..Lets be sincere for once in this country.. The PRESIDENT needs to do those things. The President needs to move at d speed of light and He is willing to... The redundant element in NASS should let the President do the thing becos he has a lot to do.. The NASS is just a body there that slows all things down and No single benefit to the country.. Pls Nigerian Youths read well before you comment on anything.. Thank you God bless Naija |

Emergency powers? No. Most likely to be abused and used to confiscate people's companies with allegations of sabotaging the nation's bla bla. Anything without specifics should not be entertained |
| Re: Emergency Powers Bill: LCCI, MAN, NLC, Others Back Buhari’s Proposals by Themandator: 12:21pm On Aug 23, 2016 |
MamaletASO:Why do you support the approval.. it is not a thread for bashing the nass.... Is it the lack of emergency powers that is responsible for lack of articulate economic policy, what are they doing now that the power will jerk to life? Everybody wants the country's growth and development including the nass members you are insulting. |

Fro m all I've read and heard about the proposed bill, it is clearly evident that the people who are wishing and praying for the PMB administration to fail are the same people opposing it. Please tell me. How could a group of people who have been criticizing the President, in their own opinion , for being too slow now opposing the proposed move by the same government to speed up things. For instance, they want to reduce the time for the ministries to advertise government contract from six (6) weeks to just one(1) week so that things can speed up considering we are in recession and government needs to act fast to save the economy. Also, the proposed bill is to last for only one year. How is that going to institute tyranny. FG should be wary of the kind of advice it listens to as many people who pretend to love this country are at the same time praying for the government to fail. |
