A serial coup financier cannot be my hero of democracy.
It's a known fact that abiola dined and wined with military rulers who held the whole country to jugular.
He got served in his own coin and of the same league with sheghu musa yar'adua, Gideon okar, vasta etc.

Like awolowo,like abiola..

both were great sons of oduduwa who were brutally murdered in cold blood by the power-drunk Hausa/fulani Oligarchy.

Both were the greatest presidents Nigeria never had... cry cry

You brought up the point that Abiola never got to rule because he disregarded the igbos but Buhari made it to the Presidency with less of the igbo votes.

Of course he did get some as against the massive votes for GEJ. Numerically, we both know which part of the country matters most for anyone who wants to become President in Nigeria today!

Re: Moshood Abiola's 79th Posthumous Birthday Is Today by Untainted007:
That's why this life is vanity. What makes him hero of democracy after he used Nigerians' wealth for his own advantage. That's why all of his businesses died even befr he died. Concord this, concord that, all perished. He sponsored bloodiest coup thinking when he helped the military he will be compensated in return. Whoever betrays will surely be betrayed. People who denied his presidency mandate knew he wud av bn worst that Hitler. You will reap what you sow.

Chief MKO Abiola the Dangotes' of the 90's...Indomie Generation kids take note!!

Babangida, Babangida ...how many times did I called you?Your Fada ehn.na you spoiled the ever Free & Fair General Election we will ever had!!
Dangote is not likely to get this big with Concord running things.

Abiola is no saint nor 'messiah', but if I might use the same words Soyinka replied OBJ with, "Nigerians did not vote for a messiah, we voted for a capable man (MKO), and he won, so why deny him and the people their victory?".

I am so glad you do. No feelings (hate nor love) from this end though.

The day I met Abiola was the day I knew the meaning of 'charismatic aura'. He was a good man.

The whole of Nigeria accepted this great man wholeheartedly..yet his wicked and maradonic bosom friend stabbed him lethally in the back. Ibrahim Babagida will never know peace for truncating what would have been the best democratic period in Nigeria.

Kashimawo, we miss you sir. sad

Re: Moshood Abiola's 79th Posthumous Birthday Is Today by attackgat: 11:11am On Aug 24, 2016
Abiola was a victim of Northern hegemony, as was Ironsi, Awolowo, Shonekan etc. Whenever a Southerner positions himself to sit, or is already sitting in statehouse, the Northerners start scheming on how to undermine and get that person out. The only Southerner who managed to hang in there was OBJ and that was because he already proved his talents as a professional 'Northern a$$licker' as head of state in the 70's.

Abiola paid the price for pursuing his mandate against the North. He was arrested, detained and just when he thought he was about to get his freedom after the death of Abacha, they killed him. One thing I never understood though was why the Yorubas still went into political alliance with North even after they killed Abiola.
