John Kerry confirmed this at the state house when he visited Buhari in Abuja on Tuesday. Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, issued a statement saying that within the meeting with Kerry, Buhari pledged that the anti-corruption crusade in the country would be deepened and institutionalised to outlast the current government. “We will insist on the standards we’re establishing. We are laying down administrative and financial instructions in the public service that must be obeyed. They were warned that investors would flee if they had to keep losing money repatriating their funds, but these same zombies said we don't need investors. According to zombies, I guess we don't need certificates(NEPA bills will do) and we don't need investors. Their god buhari was sufficient in and of himself. While I don't remember quoting you... Before the policy review, it was an incontrovertible fact that with the present level of the country’s dependence on imported goods, which results in a monthly import bill that is four times the value of our main export, which is traded in dollars, official devaluation of the naira vis-a-vis the dollar, would inevitably produce a further rise in inflation to the detriment of all of us, including, especially the masses. Besides, in such circumstances, devaluation would lead to an unacceptable drain on our country’s external reserves which is already worryingly depleted. However due to the dynamism of the markets and loss of investor confidence, it was necessary to review the policy according to the suggestions from several quarters and the President listened and ordered the free float of the Naira. Only a extremely retaaarded fellow will not agree that the country is far worse than it was on May 29, 2015. GEJ was no saint or excellent leader; but somehow, Nigerians got by. There was looting, no doubt, but, there was a trickle-down effect. Not that I support looting, but now that looting is said to be 'curbed' nothing is trickling down again. Now, almost everybody is feeling the heat. Obasanjo met a far worse country when he took power in 1999. After 8 years, he left Yar'Adua a fairly okay country. Obasanjo fought corruption to a standstill and saw to it that corrupt people went to jail. It's over a year since PMB has devoted all his energy to fighting corruption and not one single person has been convicted and sent to jail. All we have is illegal detentions here and there and loot 'recovery' that is set to 'relooted' soonest by PMB's men. 1 Like |
