It was NOT named ugwuocha because of white men, that is distorted history, which has since been corrected. It was ugwuocha because of the coastal purity of the area. It used to be a diobu area rich in agriculture and intersected by cliffs. Its richness and purity brought about the name igweocha, NOT BECAUSE OF WHITE MEN, that narrative has since been debunked.

How can you ask him that question. Opobo is a hybrid community between the Igbos and Ijaws. But unlike Bonny that was founded by an Ijaw, Opobo was founded by an Igbo. Not many people knew that Opobo was once in Cross-Rivers state before it was carved with the Obolos to Rivers. Not many even knew that the Ijaws fought for years to remove the Jajas from the throne. Opobo is a sovereign community just like other ethnicity in Rivers. They do not call themselves Ijaws nor Ibani. They call themselves Opobians. Ijaws should respect their decisions and let them be.

Opobo is an Igbo speaking town, don't know about their history or origins but I have a couple of friend from there who openly agree they are Igbo. From my observation, they are the only Rivers Igbo speaking people 'I know personally' who accept they are Igbo. However, I'm just wondering what Opobo being Igbo has to do with the topic; have they declared for Biafra?

Well, I dont know about Opobo town coming together to collectively proclaim their ethnic roots. You can check my history, I am not a biafran bigot or whatever you call it, I just spoke purely out of my personal experience based on my personal encounter. I have 2 friends from Opobo and with their own mouths, they said they were Igbos and they speak Igbo. I also have a friend from Bonny who speaks Igbo fluently claims to be Igbo sometimes but other times, just states that he's a Bonny man. If they say it with their own mouth, who am I to oppose them?

There is a huge difference between State of Origin and State where you were born.

Do a research your great grandparents were migrants in Rivers State.

For instance I am originally from Edo State, just because I didn't grow up there or know much about my State doesn't mean I should forget that's were my family came from.

Well, I would suppose there must be some Igbo ancestory somewhere else how do you explain the similarity in language? I totally do not understand the rationale of someone who speaks a language, or who in some cases, bears a similar name, but still feels infuriated when he/she is associated with the tribe.
