The signal is that strong because their transmitting tower is on that same road ...CBC tower to be precise and located some few meters away from Ebeano Supermarket. I just see it as a gimmick for Union Bank to advertise for free reaching out to lots of users

This is 100 percent true . I went to Abeano supermarket when I saw the advert ( ya , they place a small advert saying that there is a free wifi here, the advert is all over in that area ) . so I quickly on my wifi . The signal was very strong , up to 90 percent , but my people I could not use to browse . It was not working . I was very disappointed .
Well I guess they most have ran out of data that day .

It's a business collaboration between private companies and has nothing to do with government. They probably have a business reason for that. Probably targeting them as clientele. With this kind of free WiFi, only light Internet use will be permitted so you can perform e-banking transactions.

So they are only targeting clients in one of the most expensive areas in Nigeria abi. I hear.
