Based on the present situation in Nigeria, which of these will pay more - Masters in Engineering or Professional Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, NEBOSH etc.

As an experienced Engineer which of the aforementioned will you advice me to go for.

If you're working already.

Masters in Engineering

After your masters go for the certification

Masters in Engineering is better. After HND or BEng, gain certification, then top up with Masters in Engineering.

I would think that PROFESSIONAL certification for SKILLS and knowledge acquisition is way better than another attestation of more years READING books. IMO!

Personally I think professional certs is more recognised than masters. Since you experienced already don't go and waste time and money in the university again. They cannot help you.

Get both. It's possible.

Your masters, first class, overseas degrees don't matter much in Nigeria. It's only those that know people that get jobs

It all depends on how you want to chanel your career progression. If you want to follow the academic path then go for your master but if you want to toil the engineering field then go and get certifications and the sky will be your starting point. Shalom!

My brother more paper does not matter in naija. ppl r chanting masters up n down. go n get certified. join professional bodies unless u want to major in academics u can do masters.

all In all, its better u work with your degree first b4 knowing the right certification u can do n also where knw intend to major in your masters based on experience on the job rather than taking a leap in the dark. it helps

it depends on where you want to work? If you want to work in a government parastatal or in academics that masters has an advantage in entry grade, if you are working in a private firm, relevant certification might come in handy for employment purposes and postings. All in all, it's advisable to find where you want to work and build up from there.

Lolll. Don't mind me o ..naija education system worst gan .for my department now. We no get 1st class @ all . no be se we no sabi book na . But dem dey regulate d 1st class .

Professional certification far far better.i was lucky to come to Qatar with free visa through my friend.what helped me was my discipline in school mechanical engineering. I met an Igbo pastor who works with Qatar petroleum he took interest in me. We were talking one day , he asked me what did I study I told him mechanical engineering. He asked me what can I do , said I had experience in power generation.he laughed and said to me electricity is stable here you can not get nothing.He said to me have you had about project management I said yes . He said to me he is mechanical engineer and a project planing and control engineer in QP. He said I will teach you project management and how to use premavera oracle project software.he did and now proud mechanical engineer in project management. Am now working with a well known company in Qatar as planning engineer.with salary of 1m naira a month if converted with free transport and free flight to and frow annual vacation. Nigerians control safety work here with NEBOSH.
