Good morning friends, i wish you all the best my people.
A very serious challenge facing Programming and Programmers in Nigeria is, No One willing to help in the field of Programming, every One kept what is in his hand without helping his brothers, because i have been struggled for over one week asking some Nigerian Programmers to help me give me solution in my vb.net Software Problem and No One even reply something to mean. does that mean i should quit Programming? because in Programming you should have a guider, supervisor who will help you through your career. For any Programmer who reads my Complaint Please you should listen and understand me, because only you cannot make a Country please help us, We young Programmers are in need of your support Please.

I can tell you categorically that your accusation is very wrong.
It's either you've been rolling with the wrong people or you've been doing the wrong thing yourself.
When I started programming, I didn't have anyone to guide me or mentor me, and this didn't stop me. All I would was go online and make a search on whatever was giving me problem, so you really have no excuse.
If you quit programming, then it is because you are too lazy to learn.

Before you can be helped by someone else, you yourself need to show a sign of seriousness. You don't expect someone who's very busy to do your homework for you.
As for the help you need, what effort have yourself made? (Maybe nothing, maybe a lot, I don't know).

And then, have you posted your problem here on Nairaland programming section or any other programming related forum and got no replies??

But at the end of the day, if no one is willing to help, alaye, you self gats double your Hussle ni

Another self-taught dude here. i also didn't have anyone to guide me.
Did it all by myself.
If no one is ready to help, you just have to do it yourself.
The internet has a wealth of resources on programming.
BTW, people won't really help you if you haven't done your own research and studies yourself.
And don't expect programmers to just give you the code to your program. They probably won't?
The best you can expect is guide on how to achieve it.
Who has the time anyway?
If you are truly dedicated yourself, you'd probably not need reliance on other programmers?
In short the title is misleading.
When there is electricity supply problem, internet issues, etc.?

Bro have you ever heard of Stackoverflow? If you have a problem with your code, the best way to find a quick solution is to use resources like stackoverflow. While it is nice to have a mentor while learning, you can also make use of some online resources like stackoverflow, codeschool, codeacademy, tutorialspoint and others to improve yourself. And just out of curiosity, why do you decide to learn vb.net? I'll advice you look beyond the Nigerian programming/tech ecosystem if you really want to be world class. I am sure if you do this you won't go with vb.net.

Nothing basically, but for a new/aspiring programmer to be learning vb.net is the same thing as Nigerian universities lecturers teaching fortran to computer science students in 2016. vb.net is beyond its glory days. The world has moved on to better and more dynamic languages. Popularity of vb.net is 2016 is just around 1%. You can make your own research. I'll advice you learn either of python, ruby or javascript (nodejs). And if you are a fan of .Net (which I assume) learn c#. I'll give a similar advice to someone trying to learn iOS development, learn Swift, not Objective-C.

Clients don't pay for "popularity". They pay so as to get their problems solved. Whichever tool you decide to go with, just master it. That's all. I've developed fantastic desktop apps with VB.net.
I'm almost done with the one I'm working on, it's for an hospital.
Because VB.net isn't as popular as C# doesn't mean it ain't powerful

Exactly what my boss was trying to point out up there.

An hospital desktop app ... Seriously in India or Nigeria what happens when power supply some how goes down.
Or

Are u expecting the doctor to be walking around with a desktop coz he wants to check Wats up with his patients...

Are u trying to reach / sale to only high class hospitals dat already have platforms this platforms what of smaller hospitals that only have two laptops

Why not learn java build some thing that will run on d doctors laptop and tablet and mobile phone so he has his much needed info everywhere ....

Why not go crazy with html css n JavaScript (node.js) n build to run on the web

You don't know the kinda of app I'm building. because you're sound in web stuffs doesn't mean it will be suitable for "all projects".
According to an adage..." When all you av is a hammer, everything around u looks like a nail"
I'm a web guy too, I use the right tool for the right job.

If you read wat I said well I proposed you used java instead b4 web technologies...

Coz I dont know wat java can do that VB.net will do beta ..android runs java .

Am just saying if u want to pick up more users(hospitals).. Give them something very easy to use something that will be a total substitute to the paper file system.

Again am not insulting u am just trying to help u sell beta n kick out foreign tech wen we have beta coders here

And moreover am still learning stuffs too

I never said vb.net ain't powerful, and if you study my responses quite well you'll noticed it was basically tailored for someone just learning programming, you gave an impression you are new to programming in your OP, hence my advices. As an experienced programmer I can't advice you to stop using vb.net if you feel it is the right tool for the task at hand, but for an aspiring programmer, due to the benefits of massive community support, volume of open source projects, tutorials, mentors and entry level job opportunities, I give the initial advice I wrote above.

Guys, guys, guyyyys.... Keep your bragging rights of self made this and that.... Yea we know you earned it but the learning curve is a little steeper for a lot of guys. I'm well on my way to becoming topnotch but before this, I battled java for a year. I have a purely arts background so it was like Greek. The simplest actions required maximum effort because I couldn't just get the hang of it. Almost two years later, I absorb anything java and c# in a heartbeat.
My point here is if you can any newbie please do. Indulge or babysit sometimes... The guy might have put in hours

... To get what you now do without thinking in less than a minute... Please thank you.

Nobody was bragging. Just pointing out that he can do it by himself if others are not ready to help.
I came from Arts background too. It is definitely not easy, but he can.

You've just in fact buttressed what has been said in previous posts.
No body is bragging here. The truth is - noone will spoon-feed or babysit anybody.
Why didnt you quit at the time you were battling Java for a year??

I did quit at some point.... But I had a little bit of guidance on how to study programming and get results... That's when I picked it up again and succeeded.
