I'm an optimistic person. I wanted to earn through programming but I had no knowledge. I mean, I could code nothing.

I was already into research writing, graphics editing, and virtual assistance..but I wanted to be a jack of all trade and master of all.

What I did? I created a profile on freelance sites that I was a programmer. Like I basically had specialised profiles for research writing, graphic editing, and virtual assistance.

Guess what? I got a gig of $400. Agreed, I knew HTML and a bit of CSS..but that's not programming.

What I did? From the $400 paid, I paid a tutor $100 to teach me and was using the client's job to test my skills. I am a very fast learner.

This is a risky thing to do and it's not totally advisable but if you are like me who MUST earn money legally, and a fast learner, it's worth the try.

So I finished the job. But I was only 90% sure I got it right. I sent it to my tutor to help me check “what I did myself and practised “ and he made few corrections, I incorporated, and I submitted.

grin

In essence, my first programming job was my learning centre and I still gained $300.

Why don't you work smart nah? Please learn a digital skill today grin

Good but kinda hard to believe.

Call me a pessimist but I'm just wondering the timeframe it took you to complete this job and how long it took you to actually learnt all what you learnt from your mentor.

Your client must be a very patient client.

More believable to say u used the $100 to outsource the Job.

What exactly did you build?

What tools did you use?

What was the client’s comment afterwards?

Details will not be revealed for personal reasons.

But the output was perfect.

It all matters in how optimistic you are to work. I had background knowledge already but was amateur.

Of course, it's a three-month job. Outsourcing programming jobs doesn't go well.

I have my ways.

You can always be perfect at things when you are willing to learn and there's sb willing to give it all to you.

You dont need to tell us client details or other identifying data.

Did you build a website?
What did you build what you built with?
What tools were used?
What frameworks, if any?

For example: I built a static school website with 10 pages. I used only html and some vanilla JavaScript.

I submitted after 10 days and the client was ok.

Something in that line

As with most freelancers, we learn on the job! The important thing is to secure the work first grin grin grin anything after can come later!

I suspected that right from the moment he said he knew HTML.

He even made a blog post about it.

He was given 3 months to deliver a phantom HTML project for $400. Was he re-writing Wikipedia?

He didn't say it was html and css job he said he paid a tutor to help him learn programming which may be a python or JavaScript project but he didn't express it that he got paid $400 to build something with just HTML and CSS he even said that that's not programming

The OP is a storyteller (i am being polite).

He was careful enough not to even mention what the job scope was. He only came here to tell us he got a programming job and was able to deliver whilst not being a programmer.

He thinks he is smart and concludes by inferring that anyone who cannot do what he did is not smart.

When he was asked probing questions, he dodged and refused to answer.

Go through his other posts on Nairaland. He was in the barracks one time, he was in a boarding school another time. Another time, he was also learning computer studies with secondary school female students. He is many things.

Today, he is a programmer.

You really didn’t have to respond to anyone. Allow people believe and say what they want. It actually doesn’t matter inasmuch as you’ve made your point. I made my point already. I really don’t need to explain specially to anyone. On Nairaland, people attack you and leave the message like you give a fck‘bout them. That’s why I use my power to reasoning to discern those worthy of a response…not just anyone. Lol. Funny things.
