Got this Toyota Siena from someone who happened to be the third owner. It came with only the key.

So I went and bought the normal remote went online read about programming did all my best but couldn't programme it.

The remote is good and am far from where I bought it. But they said I should be sure if the car have used a remote before as some do not have receivers.

So I ask.....

1. Do all 1999/2000 Siena use remote.
2. Who can guide me on how to get the remote programmed?

Go to a locksmith to get this sorted.

I don't think the 1997-2000 model came with transponder ability only the 2001-2003 have such function but I may be wrong depending on trim of the later.

You can ask a key programmer if it can be fixed to work check your left side close to the side mirror adjustable knobs if there is a red bulb in a square case on the dash

For that model there are two options
1. Factory installed only for the xle trim
2. Dealer installed VIP 3000 , it will have a rectangular box to the left of the steering with Toyota security written mon it
If you car has neither of this then it does not have a remote system on it except maybe an aftermarket type

lets separate issues here

are you not confusing key coding and remote programing ?

do you want the central locking to work ? did you buy the exact fob for your car ? eg same year and serial numbers and frequence these are hard to match if you dont have the original fob eg if you had the old fob that got damaged it would be easy to get details like serial number and frequence etc ?
