Hahaha...these people never cease to amaze me. If those ancient of ages war planes consume such outrageous amounts of fuel, then I wonder what the US F-24s would consume. Simply means they would each fly with a dedicated air refill craft na gringringrin
These people ought to be investigated!!

Re: Nigeria’s Warplanes Consume 1.9Million Litres Of Fuel Monthly by magicminister: 9:25am On Aug 31, 2016
Lets do the maths

according to air-usa.com/aircraft, alpha jets consume 190 gallons/hour

190 gallons = 719 Litres/ Hour

Since the military claims they us 1.9 million per month, the number of hours would be = 1,900,000/ 719 = 2, 643 hours.

We have 24 hours in a day; so for us to determine the number of "days" flown in a month, it would be 2,643 hours/ 24 hours = 110 Days/ Month.

In order to determine the number of flights per day, we divide 110 days/30 days = 3.66. APPX 4

IN ORDER FOR THE MILITARY TO UTILIZE 1.9 MILLION LITRES OF FUEL PER MONTH ON ALPHA JETS, THEY HAVE TO ATLEAST MAKE 4 FLIGHTS A DAY. EACH FLIGHT HAS TO BE NOTHING LESS THAN AN HOUR BUT NOT MORE THAN 2 HOURS.

ODIEGWU!!

Alpha jet normally consume around 900+litres/hour of fuel now to talk of our aged alpha jet maybe they could be taking that much...

The article clearly says the Alpha jet burns through 2400 litres of Jet fuel in an hour and with an operational radius of about 350 kms I can safely deduce that the alpha can be in the air for a little over one hour before it's next refuel . The average weight for all grades of Jet fuel is 0.81kg to a litre meaning 2400 litres would weigh 1944 kg which when converted to tonnes will give us about 1.9 tons. Okay now to why I said it must be a lie , oga the empty weight for the Alpha jet is 3500 kg while it loaded weight ( weight when bearing full tank and it's basic arms) is 5000kg meaning the plane at take off can afford a combination of about 1.5 tons for its basic arm and fuel..I still insist that there is corruption written all over the figures released by our airforce

Many people don't know how small that alpha jet is so they might fall for the lies but anyone who has been up close with that jet knows it's a big lie

At least, while consuming the fuel, the capabilities of the terrorists have been drastically degraded. What degradation did we witness under Dasuki erahuh
If you can't see now, you can't see again. Check the cost monthly and see if the said amount is not above military defence.

You see why you need education?

That 1.9m litre number is the total used monthly by all air assests in operation not just fighter jets. This is clearly stated in the article.
