Tinubu Trying To Sell Rejected Apc To Oyo People – PDP by Oluwaniepp: 6:51am On Dec 19, 2017
The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday dismissed the speech by the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, while welcoming former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and other defectors to the party on Saturday, as an attempt to sell a rejected party to the people of Oyo State.

Tinubu had said the defection of Alao-Akala, Teslim Folarin and others from the PDP to the APC was a sign that the APC had become the only party in the state and that the opposition had been finally buried.

But the PDP Publicity Secretary in the state, Akeem Olatunji, in a statement said the whole event and Tinubu’s statement betrayed his fear that the PDP had put its house in order.

Olatunji said, “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to a national leader of the APC, Tinubu, at a function held to welcome defectors who have joined the APC, wherein he expressed his fears indirectly over the continuous rise and dominance of the PDP in Oyo State politics and Nigeria at large.

“It is absurd that 90 per cent of the so-called defectors have ceased to be PDP members more than two years ago while the remaining 10 per cent are politicians who make their living through politics and hence the need to be in the ruling party at all times because they lack ideologies and principles.

“The PDP in Oyo State actually pities Tinubu for the unenviable job of selling a rejected Oyo APC to the electorate whereas the party hierarchy including the national chairman knows that the Oyo APC is moribund. The Saturday’s official declaration was just a charade to celebrate the birthday of Governor Abiola Ajimobi in an elaborate and wasteful manner.”

The statement noted that the absence of key party figures like the APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, and the Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, showed that the event was a failure.

“It is on record that the only minister from the state, Shittu; senators Monsurat Sunmonu, and Fatai Buhari, Dapo Lam-Adesina and many other political office holders on the platform of the APC boycotted the events to the surprise of Tinubu and Governor Ajimobi; a failed attempt to give a false hope that the APC is still alive in the state when all the indices show that the APC is virtually dead and the undertakers were admitted with funfair last Saturday.”

i dont think ladoja will contest again and most likely if he does , he will lose .
with seyi makinde movement back into pdp , he will be a very good candidate considering the fact that he is loved by youths in the state , secondly the ongoing problem between the governor and olubadan may also come as an advantage to pdp because definitely the votes of ibadan will be split.

Tinubu lost out in 2015, he has had to re-strategise and return to 'base'. He needs a common/united South-West bloc to barter for a better position from the main contenders in 2019. Buhari or Atiku or Lamido or Maikarfi etc.

The issue however is, any of these persons can form an alliance with him only to ignore him after the elections exactly as was done in 2015.

In Ladoja and Makinde we believe

It is up to the LAUTECH students and other youths whom Ajimobi and his daughter lambasted while forming constituted authority to save money, raise funds and mobilise others to massively vote out the All Poverty Congress, APC.
Talking on nairaland alone won't do it!
Never did!!
Never will!!!

Ajimobi and the failure of constituted authority

Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the burly but tactless governor of Oyo State has been in the news for the wrong reasons. That does not bother him apparently. And ordinarily it should not bother this writer, who not being from Oyo, could be rightly accused of being a meddlesome interloper. The purpose of this piece however is not whether this self-assigned wailing wailer has the locus to interrogate the governor’s stewardship or not. There are many eminently qualified indigenes and residents of Oyo State who are better qualified to undertake that task.
The intention here is simply to extrapolate the isolated case of Mr. Ajimobi’s recent gaffe as a template for discussing leadership failure in Nigeria and most of its constituent parts.
The phrase ‘constituted authority’ was recently foisted on the lexicon of public discourse by the garrulous governor. In fact, thanks to social media and the ubiquity of its eternal imprints, no one can reasonably deny the governor credit for the notorious connotation the phrase now commands. That is surely a remarkable achievement for a governor whose critics say his tenure in office so far has brought nothing more than disrepute to governance and disgrace to the rich heritage of the Oyo people he leads (or misleads, as it were). But as stated earlier, let us leave the full story of Ajimobi’s governance in Oyo for another day and for those better qualified to discharge that responsibility. Suffice for this piece to celebrate his sterling contribution to the vocabulary of public discourse in Nigeria. That inglorious intervention has made the governor popular albeit a butt of jokes in conversations everywhere- in students’ hostels, beer parlours, business boardrooms, corridors of power and conclaves of constituted authorities.
For those who missed the story of ‘constituted authority’ a quick reference to YouTube to view the pathetic video of Mr. Ajimobi’s bellicose interaction with protesting undergraduates of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) may be worth the while. In the clip, you find a governor debasing his otherwise esteemed office by trying too hard to assert himself over students who ironically were enjoying the humour of subtly undressing the arrogance of a magisterial overlord.

If anything, GMB and Co successfully contained Tinubu.

So much so that he know has to work for them on 'credit'. Either that or work with other adversaries meaning he loses more ground.

He could also begin to demarket GMB (which he actually has since started doing since through the SW Press and Mr SaharaReporters - in conjunction with El-Rufai).

But to what end?

Anyhoo

Tinubu still wields enormous influence over the SW (that says something).

They who are notorious for 'thinking' appear incapable of 'thinking for themselves'.

Very sad paradoxical state of affairs in the SW.
