From June to December 2015, i would have been happy about this news with the hope that something tangible will come out of it. But after seeing the anti corruption fight is just a charade, i just have to say that they should stop disturbing us with this stupid news. Useless politicians. |

blackpanda:Sometimes, we need to keep shut...As folks like you gallivant with omenka on this thread... kindly ask yourself; 1) When was Halliburton scandal date? Was it during Jonathan administration? 2)Was the money ever recovered that Jonathan administration woukd have wasted it again as you and this useless news outlet suggested? 3)Was Jonathan among the former heads of state mentioned in the scandal including Aisha Buhari? 4) Isn't this a futile attempt at diverting attention from Aisha to Jonathan? 5)How come and Which fund is USA government asking them to prosecute culprits as condition for them to repatriate the fund to Nigeria? Is it the money which thjs paper is saying has been wasted on helicopter? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Same ole story. If they truly blew the money on xyz, what is stopping the government from prosecuting and charging them to court? Instead of APC to face its current task, which is massive by the way, they are still living in the past. If they indeed know the guilty parties, what is STOPPING them from taking action. What are we supposed to do with nairaland posts without any actions. Mschew. |

menxer:It is either you are grossly biased or you are pretending to be ignorant. USA comprehensively investigated the Halliburton scandal and some prominent Nigerians who are presently in APC were indicted. Fines were also imposed on the companies involved and some foreign officials were jailed. Nigeria was expected to follow up and prosecute the prominent Nigerians involved and also make the foreign companies involved paid penalty. Sadly these prominent Nigerians are still walking freely and PMB is afraid to prosecute them. We are even fortunate that USA agreed to pay us $200M out of the fines. We are indeed fantastically corrupt. My problem is the Nigerian youths and some Zombies who are so blinded by ethnicity and party to see how the so call 'Saints' are looting this country and pretending to fight corruption.. |

The can't account for $200Million yet they wanted more be like crase de worray dem shaaaa ![]() They will also examine why Nigeria, the main victim of the $180million Halliburton scam, got only $200million fines. “The U.S. government was paid about $1.5billion fines by Halliburton, apart from the jailing of the facilitator of the bribe, a UK lawyer, Mr. Jeffery Tesler. |

”We also discovered that a former Minister of Finance ordered the release of the fines to ONSA for ‘strange’ security purposes, including the customised helicopter. The unnamed ex-Minister is to be questioned on the withdrawal of the $200m fines, how it was drawn, whether once or in tranches and the breakdown of what it was used for. “We will also demand records from ONSA if the cash was actually remitted and the actual cost of the security helicopter,” the source said. Miles300:Detectives probing the whereabouts of the $200m (N81.4billion) fines paid by five companies involved in the $180million Halliburton bribery scam have made a major discovery. This is about the fines paid, not the scandal. Continue saying to hell to investigations but people will be first to blame President Buhari for the economic problems. |

Whynotthetruth: This is not about the scandal but the fines. The question is that, was the money appropriated before spending? I doubt. |

TheGoodJoe:1)Why jump issues? We have Halliburton fund sitting in US with only condition being prosecution of offenders and the fund would be repatriated...So since you all are anti-corruption, why not get buhari to face the case and get such huge money back to Treasury? 2)Why concentrate on fines and insult Jonathan for taking a executive decision... Whatever decision taken by a president in war time to protect the country cannot be questioned and won in any court...? Why the wild goose chase of deceit? 3)How come FG is advocating for secret trial for a corruption case when they are sure of corrupt activities? ![]() Buhari and co have NO CASE hence they wanna hide in cover of dark, intimidate enemies and take their pound of flesh from them for issues far from corruption... 4)How come all his associates and cabinets have outstanding corruption cases which is being swept underground and these useless media outfits won't see them to report? 5)In which sector has corruption reduced drastically since buhari took over as Jonathan did without much noise in agriculture and civil service ? Which sector has buhari reduced corruption? ![]() ![]() 6)No outstanding expenses under Jonathan...they are all covered either in main or supplementary budget...I challenge you to prove otherwise... |

I'm curious- Is buhari your god or your moses? And if the latter, who's the former? But if the latter, do you think he's in the same calibre as moses? Your answers will be truly entertaining. Heh bkool7: |

I think you people should understand something, this issue is more than blame game, it's about emancipation of Nigerian masses from the hands of our corrupt, heartless and selfish leaders that are perpetrating this evil act. This issue of Halliburton fraud needs to be thoroughly investigated by the present government that has the political will to fight against corruption and whoever that has connection with this case should be brought to justice rather than judgment. Let's leave partisan politics aside and join hands and voices to kill corruption in Nigeria before it kills us for posterity sake. |
