At least Southerners will learn to favour their own too. Jonathan particularly will knw that his people n those most closely affiliated to him by religion n tribe should have been his priority both in developmental projects and individual appointments.

These are some of the people who will destroy Buhari government.
Remember power is transient.
Honeymoon today, Honeystones tomorrow.

I am going to layout a few criticism of the Buhari's government.
Does he want to be a transformational president or does he want to become the normal, Nigerian type, " business as usual president" that we have been saddled with for over 50 years.
When I say business as usual, I do not mean the outright criminal, clannish, village, and zoological government of primitive looting given to us by Jonathan.
I meant the "one step forward, half step backwards " that obasanjo gave us ( the closest we have had to a conventional government or governance since 1966).

All these board appointments. How many of these people have ever seen the inside of a boardroom in their lives? Not to talk of running a corporate organisation.
I am not even talking about the clowns who call themselves captains of industry. They are cut from the same cloth

The woman in NPA.From bring back our girls to NPA!!!!! An organisation which is the equivalent of a Nigerian general Electric or Apple computers. What exactly is her track record in running a corporate organisation whose motive is profit.
Obasanjo gave us Anenih, Jonathan also gave us the same man. A man who in spite of having being around the corridors of power for over 40 years, has no legacy and no redeeming quality or value . These are the king of people who have been running the lives of multiple generations of Nigerians.
You would have thought that this government will take the opportunity to change the mentality of governance in respect to board appointments.
Same thing with NIMASA,NNPC and every other agency.
New government, same culture of putting people who, in any other country in the world, are unemployable.

Personally , I would have gone outside the country to employ foreign non Nigerian managers in virtually every critical sector of government.
The United Arab Emirates is not run by emiratis. Sure the emir put emiratis in some office where they cannot cause damage but the entire country and the things that matter are run by expatriates. I am sorry, it is all about skills.
If a Nigerian has the administrative or corporate skills necessary and has a track record to demonstrate those skills, no problem. In reality, most of our so called " captains of industry" are just going about the motions. They are as clueless as the politicians.
If the COIs are clueless, what does it tell you about the nobodies who are consistently appointed into boards of organisations.

From USA to Europe, there are thousands of people whose make a living running things and who would have jumped on the opportunity and the challenge.
Their job is all about making things work.
Places like the absolutely rotten Murtala airport needs only 2 people. Just 2 persons . A facility manager who runs airports infrastructure for a living (and not a board of clowns and jokers) and a director who gets every Other thing working.
You can go through the entire list of parastatals. From the military to the universities. The same thing is repeated all through.
For the universities and polytechnic, you can see the bad or lack of corporate governance in the dirty / or lack of toilets, overgrown lawns, classrooms and lecture halls with broken desk and ceiling etc.
In the police or military , dirty barracks, dirty corrupt and drunk officers.
If the commanders cannot get their acts right , why in the world are they being given the administrative tasks of running a corporate organisation. Expecially regarding the issue of handling money.
Within the Nigerian ministries, staffs openly hawking goods unchallenged during working hours.

All these point to one fact and one factory alone.
Ever since I was born, those who have been saddled with running the most important parastatals in Nigerian are the types you would not trust to run mobile phone recharge card stand.

Lol.
But this is what Nigerians believe in. If he doesn't do like this he'll be mocked when he steps down.
You'll hear stuffs like "What did he do for his people?".
He didn't even build the road to his village.
Their brother was in Power but he didn't do anything for them.

In as much as I detest nepotism and cronyism a lot, I wouldn't let sentiments becloud my sense of objective reasoning. In governance, one has to sometimes take decisions irrespective of people's opinion.

Would I say because I'm in a position of authority and deny
-my relative(s) from bidding for public contracts even though they are qualified?
-my friend his entitled promotion when he's due coz the public/press would raise alarm
-close friends appointments if I feel they are qualified.

Are my relatives or friends not Nigerians too who have rights to vie for public office and to be appointed into public services (if qualified)?

We've seen some governors appoint their very intelligent classmates in the college or university coz they feel they'd be useful in their government, does that mean they are partial here?

So far due process is followed and they are qualified, let the press shout, it's their problem.

NB: before you shout I'm an APC apologist, remember Seriake Dickson's cousin/brother, Ben Ayade's brother, GEJ's cousin & EFCC,Professor Nahzeem Mimiko, younger brother to Governor was the VC of Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State.

I know and concur with most of all you've said but where I draw the line is attempting to be 'pan-nigerian' to d detriment of ur own people. If we had well developed institutions working at optimum level u can be sure that d majority of citizens will get their just dues and there'd be hardly any qualms. However, where because of the rotten system of governance we operate here in Nigeria, d whims n caprice of any President determines who gets what, any person in that office ought to pay more concern to his own people and close affiliates knowing that when he leaves,'his people may be abandoned as d tables will be turned on them.

It is absolutely disgusting that this is currently obtainable in Nigeria hence d hue n cry for restructuring so d FG n Presidency has less power to influence regional development. It was however a failure on the part of GEJ to properly appreciate d import of the times and therefore make real lasting impact on his own people since he wasn't prepared to rock d boat n change the system in favour of the people. Today is he not mocked that for 5yrs in office d SS / SE that supported him d most are hardly any better than when he came into power? How can Otuoke lack potable water ad reportes? Is it not those that he sought to pacify with more development and goodies that still obviously hate him and didn't even pretend about it while in office that made sure he was ousted n seek every means to discredit him?

It's sooo sad. I thought the way people were hailing him he would be good. But he is worse.... so sad.

The president and his team had and have no plan for Nigeria and her economy. They don't even know what to do.

The irony is that the people that voted for him or thought he would be a good president are feeling the squeeze the most.

I agree with u to an extent. A case study is in Akwa Ibom State during the era of Victor Attah. He put Champion Breweries and Peacock Paint back to use. Handed over Champion to Indians to manage and peacock to our people. Do u knw that in less than two and half years peacock was close down due to excessive corruption but Champion till today is waxing stronger. One of our major problem is corruption.
