Would you say they are talking about the same "thing"? As in ONE being?
They honour a single God but give Him different names or titles.

You're confusing yourself a bit

Eledumare is the most supreme God

Yahweh is "Olorun"

Olorun is a manifestation of Eledumare

Olodumare conducts the affairs of the universe

To your point, all gods are manmade, they're made to suit whichever place its "made"
Ok, thank you for the corrections. But people couldn't have conspired to create such thoughts which have influenced people today. Man couldn't have thought up a God if he had not experienced Him. His thinking wouldn't have beamed at such a path since man is said to have been born naïve. Since everything that we know today are through process of observations, man could only have known God through the same experience.

Hahaha. Deists are funny. Do you agree that the god they worship is the true god then?
They don't worship any god . They simply accept the existence of a supernatural creator but have the belief it - not used pejoratively - does not intervene in the affairs of humans .

They believe this supernatural creator created the universe and gave humans reason and that was it - no intervention . They believe that whatever is sine qua non to the continuation of life has been provided by the creator and it is sufficient .

So in case you are in trouble , according to the deists , don't wait for miracles , think !

Almost every ethnic group invented their own god because its "necessary" to maintain a certain "order"

we are born with a powerful need for attachment

Individual survival was enhanced by protectors, beginning with our mothers. Attachment is reinforced physiologically through brain chemistry

We easily expand that inborn need for protectors to authority figures of any sort, including religious leaders and, more saliently, gods. God becomes a super parent, able to protect us and care for us even when our more corporeal support systems disappear, through death or distance.

Quite a nice analogy you put up here. But attachment is not necessarily linked to an invention. Perception could be a prime factor in attachment. The perception of a higher force which accounts for the unfathomed complexity of the multiverse.

You need to look around you, we have street chairman, local government chairman, speakers, governors, president etc

There has to be someone greater that had to be "created" to put them in check

It then becomes necessary that a king believes that there's a greater power that rules them, this power is greater than any other and more powers than the king himself, so powerful that the king should take care lest he kindles the wrath of that being against him and his people; this being sees next to no difference between the king and the pauper

Inventing/creating this being becomes necessary

Exactly ! You gorge on whatever info being posted there to renew your faith in the non existence of God and increase your hatred for religion then regurgitate for us to see you guys in that way you desire .

How then are you guys critical thinkers when you need other people to do the thinking for you - this means you guys just put your thought processes in abeyance when arguing with the religious ones here . These are not your ideas , these are not your thoughts - so where is the critical thinking?

Bros, you're very confused, let me guess, a critical thinker should think everything on his/her own? Everything he says must be something he thought on his own and his own only?

Okay bro

If atheism is true we are all this Indian on the raft. What awaits us, our civilisation, our race, our planet, indeed the universe as a whole, is destruction and extinction, no matter what we do.
Philosopher William Lane Craig puts it:
“If there is no God, then man and the universe are doomed. Like prisoners condemned to death, we await our unavoidable execution… If God does not exist, then life is futile”.
Now, because a plate of your favourite meal is inevitably going to finish when you start eating it, does that mean it is pointless to eat it?, it is meaningless and no point eating it?

Or

because a movie is going to end, does that mean it is pointless to watch it?, no point watching it...

Naah.

You and your people call it different things.

HcPaul calls it sanity, AgentofAllah calls it an admission of apathy towards God, others call it science, reasoning, logic, rationality, rejection of dogma etc

Just to delude yourselves. undecided
You seem to experience great difficulty in deducing definitions. This is perhaps why your arguments are usually so terrible. It is not possible to build a sound argument on shaky definitions. By your own admission, you don't know the meaning of atheist, yet you vehemently argue against it. Don't you think there's something wrong with that?

Let me help you: "a-" is an affix with Greek origins. It means "without". "Theist" is a Greek word for a person with belief in god. It therefore follows that "atheist" means a person without belief in god. That definition is self-consistent, and independent of external factors such as sanity, science, logicality, reasonability, rationality or even ones disposition to the general idea of dogma.

Further, I can see why many mistake not believing in god as the belief that there is no god, but on reflection, it should become apparent that confusing the former for the latter is no different than supposing that the absence of evidence is evidence for absence. A little reading on the subject of survivors' bias should elucidate why that's a fatal mistake.

They honour a single God but give Him different names or titles.
But this gods they honour all have different attributes, likes/dislikes, perversions etc.

For instance, Jehovah will send you to hell for NOT believing Jesus is his son while Allah will send you to hell for believing he has a son.

Doesn't sound the same to me undecided
