Poor Remuneration: Mass Exodus Of Officers May Hit Customs by willywasco(op): 4:34am On Sep 01, 2016
ATTEMPTS by the current administration to shove up its non-oil receipts may face a major setback, following threats of a major exodus of some experienced officers of the Nigeria Customs Services who have threatened to dump their service uniforms on account of poor remuneration and working-conditions, investigations by Nigerian Pilot have revealed.

“We can’t continue to work in such a harsh environment, with our take-home pay barely enough to meet our basic domestic needs” revealed a Deputy Superintendent in Apapa, who craved anonymity.

Millions are waiting to replace them! Most of them are corrupt and know how financially comfortable they were, this accruing from their sharp practices.

If only our political leaders are selfless and patriotic we the followers won't complain against them. But when Peter is robbed to pay Paul then your guess is as good as mine.

This is what happens when Government workers get so used to hefty kickbacks & bribes - their monthly income would definitely be "chicken change" to them.

Salary wey dem don turn to recharge cards and suya money - it would always be difficult to start depending on it all of a sudden.

It seems the new Customs boss is winning the war against corruption - kudos to him!!

We shouldn't blame the private sector for slaving workers since you believe it's okay for the government to do same too.

Not again man. I have a friend who works in custom. He confessed to me. They have blocked the loopholes. IG one does it, it is at his own peril.

BTW, weeks ago, personnel at DSS also complaint of poor working conditions, poor remuneration. They even threatened to take job from neighbouring countries

the experienced men were once inexperienced and fresh in the system. why not enjoy pension and give the young unemployed Nigerians a chance? we are already aware that even something much enough can't satisfy their big tummy.

Are they not being paid their salary? or was their salary reduced? I think it's the Nigerian mentality of kickback after salary that is their problem. It's obvious those avenue are being blocked.
Re: Poor Remuneration: Mass Exodus Of Officers May Hit Customs by ibadanfinest(m): 7:52am On Sep 01, 2016
Like the bros above me said. Nobody reduced their salary, they didn't. complain for reduction in allowance, how come all of a sudden after working for years, they now know there salary cannot take them home. Officials are corrupt and corruption has been official in this country.
