Beremx:A tunnel does not have drainage per se. It rather has a storage tank with either automatic pump or manual pump which is not lacking in the Owerri tunnel. All tunnels just like roads must be flooded during heavy downpour. There is no dug in tunnel free from flood. |

wristbangle:I thought the Maryland stuff was a flyover. What we have at Obiri Ikwerre in Port Harcourt feels like that Maryland flyover when driving under. |

Abagworo:Hmmm well it's not flyer per say but I can still affirm it is. It's almost similar to the place u mentioned at PH just that the length of the tunnel underneath going to ojota is longer than PH's own. Meanwhile we can't even call the maryland or other minute ones a tunnel becos the ones at overseas countries are so long and well planned. Abagworo: ![]() Abagworo:I don't agree with this comment. Maryland tunnel has never for once flooded. There are underground drainage a tunnel must have and that is what makes a tunnel standard. |

Abagworo:tunnels in most advanced countries Are flooded without tunnels abi? So the tunnels in advanced countries don't have pedestrian walkways and drainage systems okwa ya? tunnels in advanced countries only can accomodate only small cars? abeg admit that rochas built nonsense |
| Re: My Visit To Enugu Tunnel, Today. Shame!!! by Abagworo(m): 9:16pm On Sep 01, 2016 |
Beremx:Maybe I should educate you a bit because you are sincere. Not all tunnels, bridges, flyovers and roads are for heavy duty vehicles. Right here in Port Harcourt there are 2 flyovers for only small cars at Rumuola and CFC but it doesn't make them less of a flyover than the one at Mile 1 or Agip that carry heavy duty vehicles. Those criticizing that tunnel are either insincere, unenlightened or following a bandwagon. There are even bridges for pedestrians alone that cars cannot use. Coming back to the the Owerri tunnel it took up the design and size of the parent roads which are narrow with wide median. You can only observe this when you visit and then again the place is not hilly enough and its unwise to dig further beyond the height used. The tunnel will be more prone to flooding if dug further to accommodate higher vehicles. It may be wiser to convert the tunnel to overhead bridge with supporting pillars to raise the height and width but then is the money available? Let's enjoy the gains of the small one while the future might see us having flyovers instead. |
