Many people don’t seem to realize the benefit of legalizing guns in Nigeria. They think of the disadvantages alone, not the advantages. Why are we narrow-mindedly opinionated about this issue?

1. Men go into a house to rape a defenseless girl. Would they try that if they knew she’s armed with a gun? Rapists want to rape and live, not to rape and die.

2. Many aged parents still cry days and nights, while their broken souls plead for vengeance. Their innocent children were killed in Jos and elsewhere while they were serving their fatherland.

3. In Nigeria, most criminals want to do bad things to people and go scot-free. If they knew people had guns as well, they would think twice.

4. I must be blunt, what gives most criminals the gut to attack people is because people are defenseless. If 20 assassins go to a man’s house, they’ll kill him. But the man can kill up to 3 of them before he dies. This is better than when the man is killed without being able to kill anyone in return.

5. One-Chance, terrorists, herdsmen, militants, money ritualists, armed robbers, thugs, bullies, etc., are able to go away unscathed in most cases because their victims don’t have guns. To be frank, those who attack you have power over you only because they’re armed and you’re not.

6. If most members communities have guns in their hands, do you think armed robbers would like to go to their lion’s den to molest them?

7. Militants that terrorize communities would be afraid to do so; unless they’re going on suicide missions. The same is true of mad Jihadists. No mad or rabid dog would deliberately run into a burning fire.

8. Domestic violence would cease…. A corrupt cop would cease pointing their gun to a poor and helpless okada rider because of N100.

9. Lazy thugs that collect money they don’t work for would think twice before they start cursing or threatening their victims, ordering for money they don’t work for.

10. It’s true, many people would die. But the remaining people alive would sit right. They would show respect for one another. Politeness would prevail and crimes would be reduced to almost zero. Isn’t there any sense in this?

She can always still get it now if she wants that. This law only takes guns away from the good people. Bad people get it anytime they need it.

community is made up of people and people have different mental capability and peradventure if your family living in a community who have mental problem you give him gun, will your family with mental problem not use the gun to kill other people living in thesame community?

With the volume of weed that people take these days. Legalising that means any little misunderstanding, somebody's corpse will be lying on the ground.

@op I refuse to follow that suggestion of yours as there is no atom of sensibility, encouraging a trigger-happy society will bring about nothing but daily casualty thereby turning the sane to insane. Are you telling me that pastors, sisters, mothers and fathers also should move with pistol. Kindly give a constructive justification of our safety
Re: Why Guns Should Be Legalized In Nigeria by mrofficial(m): 9:01pm On Sep 02, 2016
Gun should never be legalised in Nigeria. As advanced as the US is, the death recorded annually isn't something to overlook.

Imagine the carnage between the univsity cultist... I have always advocated for by any means necessary but we can't due to stupid laws. If am robber brings a improvised gun and I have an widow maker at home, am sure he will think twice before embarking on his last journey.

Nigeria that has so many undiagnosed mad men and women?
Abegi!

Even U.S.A that are more advanced than us and have records on their citizens are having problems with gun control. You now want to bring that problem here so that one mad man will just enter a mall and start killing people.

No offense but this is Bullcrap, Nigeria's system isn't ready for such. When the security forces can't adequately dispense their duties, you are asking for gun licensing.

Which ones are the safest countries in the world? That is the question OP must ask himself, so if the safest countries in the world are the ones where guns are widely and legally available, then he has his answer. Good luck with one man one gun!

Sounds nice...but in reality it isn't. Think about this.... are most robbery/rape victims shot/killed/seriously injured? If everyone is armed.... robbers would not give you a ghost of a chance to defend yourself. ... they'll either shoot you first then rob you.... or make you freeze...rob you... and guess what they would do when they take your weapon? Rapists...same thing... think they would rape and run away?...give the victim the chance to shoot them in the back? ...let's not talk about impatient drivers... do you think they'd be pressing horn and shouting? One guy I knew always had two guns to defend himself..... when the time came he couldn't. ..not sure if he went to Heaven or ehmm... d other place. Sounds nice!

0p a hungry man is an angry man. This will only bring lawlessness and anarchy. Things are already bad in Naija, no need to complicate it further.

People blood dey hot already, to give dem gun, they will use it to vent their frustrations on their perceived source of frustration. Dead bodies would littter the street.

Just remembered that film, The Purge-a 24hr window where you are free to commit any crime and won't be held accountable.

Perhaps I might kill lalasticlala myself. Omo see ban o!
