Good Evening my fellow nairalanders.

Please i need an expert advice on how to utilize 200k to train 300 broiler birds For 8 weeks.


Note: Housing and Water facilities has bn taken care of. The money is exclusively For feeding, cost of birds, medications, drinkers and feeders.....

Not feasible for that number if u'll be raising them from DOC(day old chicks) and u want them to attain good market size @8wks.

It seems t is ur first time of trying this out.
I'll only advice u to go for 100birds*2cartons of 51 each* (i didn't mean to belittle ur potential n capability) but it will be safer...

Not my first time. i hv reared 100 twice now. Just wanted to increase d stock to 300 wt 200k

thank God you're no newbie.

3 cartons should do(you shouldn't be spending above 160k).

With the present inflation . I can't really give u d exact cost estimate. Unlike during d first quarter of d yr when most prices of feeds, med, etc were stable. I mean d era of #2700/bag(25kg) for super starter, 2300for grower n 2650 for finisher.
Things are super-changing.

i think folks planning for xmas chicken or already into t will be good source of information. Over to them.
Kinda sorry i don't have d latest information.

I will like to know your target weight.

If your target is 2kg, you will need nothing less than 220k to raise 300 birds.

Note: the calculation is base on average of #3100/25kg of super starter and finisher, #150 DOC and #50/bird for other expense.

If you use quality feed, 5kg of feed should conveniently give them 2.5kg.
In this case;
Average price of feed 3100/25kg = 124 per kg × 5 = 620
If you get DOC at 150/chick
Drugs and others 50/bird
So you spend on a bird 620 + 150 + 50 = 820
820 × 300 = 246000.
Note; It may be higher if DOC is above 150 naira.

pls budget BTW 250k to 300k. hope u av the market?
