If you truly need your money, go to interpol, get his necessary details and every related evidence of transactions. They will get it done within a week, he will be arrested there in the US by interpol. Interpol police is everywhere in the world. You can find them in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, calabar and other big cities. Thank me later.

Hmmmm...Never thought of this o. I actually know his younger brother and can get how to see him. But from what I heard, he doesn't really care about this younger brother. I might just try that with the hope he won't prefer to lose his younger brother for money. Thanks plenty.
U might get urself into trouble... Don't even think of using area boys.

I would rather suggest that u contact ur client, who made the payment, he would be in a better position to help. If ur rapoo with him is okay and the business is ligit, he can even pose as the owner, that he would help recover your cash
Re: Scammed By A Nigerian Friend In The US by planetx:
I can't believe someone advice the OP to go beat up the guys relative and he took that as a serious option when the person giving the advice was probably joking. He might have used your money to attend to an urgent need, or you think people living in the US are swimming in dollars? And MIGHT pay you back later when he his buoyant or you just forget about the whole matter and let karma deal with him. And in regards to INTERPOL you think they have the time to be chasing someone on the other side of the world over a couple of thousand dollars, and what evidence do you have that the sent money was yours when it was sent by someone else.

Give us his details. He can be traced and found. He can be reported to his employer by nairaland members on the company's twitter page, Facebook page and a flood of letters. They may not immediately terminate him since he can sue them for wrongful termination but he would at least feel embarrassed and they would be monitoring him closely for any wrongful doings.

I think that's the best you can do at this point, Nigeria doest have the political muscle to have their citizens extradited back to Nigeria for proper prosecution and especially not for a minor case like this. Good luck.
wrongful termination ke? Since he said he only owns a tv (I know it's exergeration), I'm sure he is working in one of those small companies that make u sign on the first day that ur contract can be terminated any time.

If u know where his relations live, take some area boys there n beat them up properly n let them know why u are doing it....it works like magic. I know some people that travelled to Lybia, with the intention of them crossing into Italy from there. But on getting there the Nigerian agent refuse crossing him n keep asking for money from d parents, until they went n fu*k up his relations.... He crossed the guy the next day.

I did a job for someone in the US and gave a friend's US account to receive the money with the plan of opening a domiciliary account here and asking him to transfer the money to it. Over time, the money got to some thousands of dollars with him. I eventually opened the account and sent the details to him so he could help me transfer it. He didn't respond and when I called him he didn't answer the call. I called him several times after that, no response. I sent mails to him, no response. I tried to contact him on Facebook and found out he had deactivated his account. It's been like 6 weeks now and the only response to all the messages I sent to him is that even if I report the matter to the police, there is nothing they can do because it is a civil case and he will go ahead to declare bankruptcy and all he owns in the US is a TV which costs about $300.

I have all necessary details about him but I need to know the right way to go about this. I can push it to a level where he will face some charges due to his travel and work history in the US and may even lose so much but that may not eventually bring back my money.

Please, dear people, what do you suggest I do?
I heard you say God is your own Amadioha and it's nice. But if you really want your money back. Threaten him and the family, tell them that you have reported the issue to a shrine and failure to pay your money.... They know the rest. Infact I can help you recover the money if you want. he pay ur money sharp sharp.

I don't know the nature of the business you did that resulted in that money. I suspect it might be yahoo yahoo business judging by the confidence exhibited by ur USA guy. You ve to apply caution with the way you approach this matter cos any nigga capable of seizing ur fund is also capable of harming u physically if he sees you as a threat. Report the matter to his family members and ensure you delete any means of him monitoring u and don't discuss the matter further with those close to him cos u never know who amongst them work for him. By the time he is not hearing from you again, his conscience will be pricking him. One day u will come here to testify that the bastard has done the needful. This approach always work for me.

2 wrongs don't make a right. What if a simple threat results in a homicide? What happens?
OP, pls just pursue any legal means possible, including reporting to antigraft agencies, who will contact their foreign counterparts

he didnt pay you for services (probably IT related) you rendered to him
this is technically different from him collecting hard cash from you and refusing to pay back.

There is really nothing much you can legally do to him if he his bankrupt
Cut your losses

This is normal in the business world and should teach you some fine lessons
