I make sure I spray insecticide before my crops germinate after which the subsequent ones are done once a week but If I notice any attack before that time, I spray.

For Fungicide, I usually do that twice a week

Yes one can plant on the soil without making beds or ridges.
However, making beds wil help till the soil, control weeds and loosen the soil for plants to grow well.

Please explain a little further so that a newbie like me would understand.

Spraying before germination, u mean on the soil. Then the weekly routine, do you avoid spraying directly on the crop leaves? What about the fungicide, how is it applied? Thanks a lot bro.
I spray round the farm...on the soil. To be sprayed on the crops.... I usually spray the two together. I mean I mix the insecticide and Fungicide together in the sprayer

Today is Day 7

Meanwhile at the other farm, the laborers did very badly just because I failed to monitor them.
I instructed them to plant one seed per hole, but I hardly see one seedling per hole today. Instead they packed the seeds in 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s.

So, be sure to monitor them when giving them your seed to plant for you.

Great! What variety did you plant?
Re: My Cucumber Farming Experience In Lagos by jephito(op): 12:30pm On Sep 09, 2016
Hello

Unlike the Tokyo F1, I observed that the germination rate of the Darina variety is very poor.

Again, I noticed that a week interval for spraying insecticide might be risky, so I suggest a 4-5 days interval. I noticed attacks of pest on my crops which I think it's either the pest are now resistant to my particular insecticide or the interval is too long.

I will be applying urea tomorrow

Great effort.
Please keep it up.

Stay blessed.

I will keep you guys posted. This is my first thread on cucumber though I posted some pictures of the previous cultivation on many threads including this link.

No
Dont say "NO" emphatically because you dont really KNOW!

How can you say spraying the crop that one would eat, with insecticide and fungicide DIRECTLY, does not it?

Are you not aware that some of these x-cide are capable of penetrating the soft tissues of the crop and reside insde th eflesh till consumption by humans?

While l feel your hustle, l think we need to be careful with the use of all these Chemicals on what people will consume.
It may kill the pests but it may also end up "slowly" killing the consumer or at the minimum, induce some disease (Cancer) in them at a later stage in life.

I will suggest you make use of Govt bodies like FIIRO (Oshodi), IITA (Ibadan) and ask questions about which type of Pesticide/Fungicide is safe to use and in what quantity and manner. I am sure they will be more than willing to assist.

Wish you more success in your efforts.

Impressive! Many have now become Pro in Cucumber farming! cool

Abeg make una extend am to Cabbage, green peas, lettuce etc so that preparing salad will become cheaper! cheesy
Typical Nigeria. All you do is to depend on others to produce for you to eat or embezzle, what stops you from learning how they (cabbage, tomatoes, lettuce and other veggies) are planted and help reduce the dependency on others.
