Whenever I come across new inventions I loathe death even more..the fact that mind-blowing inventions would still come into existence after I've left..d fact that sport competitions like Uefa champions league,World cup,olympics would still take place is sickening..I remember an Uncle that had the Samsung Galaxy note 2 in 2012 & wouldn't allow the kids near it..He is dead now and Samsung just released the note 7....

The practice of prefabricated buildings is older than any of us on this thread. It has even been in Nigeria for ages.

A ready example is Dolphin Estate Ikoyi.

The faculty of engineering complex at unilag also comes to mind.

Prefabricated buildings have been around for quite a while, there is even a place called prefab, in Owerri, all the buildings there (bungalows though) where all prefabricated, from the stories I heard. That part of owerri was built before I was even born, during the time of Mbakwe as old Imo State governor.

Well, prefab houses have been around for many years and were used in many countries damaged during the world war to provide emergency houses after the war.

They are now been used in many countries and in modern architectural design. But I don't think Nigeria is ready, as they need to be built complying with very strong building codes, which we don't have yet.

What about sustainability issues?

Prefabricated building is a new modern method of building which is completed within a very short period of time .With this method,a 20 storey apartment building can be completed within 5 days,and a duplex can be built in a day . The components of the building are already manufactured in a factory .They are transported to the site of the building and assembled together to produce the house or building .
Below are some prefabricated buildings. Although expensive at this time,they'll eventually become less expensive as time goes by .

Can they withstand heavy storms?

Any government that is serious about providing affordable housing and bridging the gap of housing deficit have to go prefab way.

They are tower of Babel to me, and more tower of Babel more trouble and accidents then. But let the wise build simpler things; buildings, bridges and so on. Beware of end time architects, many of them may no more be around when their end time designs fail.

I laf @ dose saying naija is behind. Come 2 barnawa high cost in kaduna and c all d buildings are prefabricated, and they have spend more than 20 years already.

It's not that expensive compare to our traditional methods looking at the cement price. Also considering that all will be plum.

Those Dolphin Estate houses and flats in Lagos Island were poorly finished,and they used to leak like crazy, anytime it rained! Chai!! shocked
