Exactly...
Many average/below-average muslim families do 'ajo' i.e. thrift towards buying Ileya ram.

Ordinary ram, by Christmas, most Christians would be buying rice for N35,000 per bag angry

- do we import rams?
- what does rams got to do with dollars?
- are the meals imported?
- has the transport cost for moving rams suddenly jumped by more than 200%?

what have we done to deserve this treatment in Nigeria?
We do not import rams, agreed. But those ram sellers also buy other imported products whose prices have skyrocked, so they had to increase the prices of their rams as well in order to keep up with the reality on ground.

It doesn't mean he has money,it's an obligation for them to kill Ram,some even sell their property or get loan or borrow from friends, just to buy Ram
We have a family friend who sold one of their houses just to raise money to go to Saudi arabia
Guy it's NEVER an obligation to kill an animal during Sallah, it's just a voluntary act which has become strong due to its cultural implications.
Hajj too on the other hand only becomes mandatory IF the person is wealthy enough to comfortably afford the Pilgrimage without causing any financial difficulties on him or his family.

In my humble- honest opinion, dollar's rise should NEVER ever impact local market. Govt should have been firm on price control regardless. And they should make gas available for transporting Rams at very low rate.

Dollar rates or not should only be a matter btw govt and international countries. Anyways, the reason i am here is to get price for a BIG RAM in Ogun State. When i said BIG, I meant like this.

Any idea please?
The reason why dollar should affect local market is this: I cannot sell my locally produced goods for cheap, while I buy imported goods at exorbitant prices. If I do that I will find it difficult to cope with the current economy situation.

The ram seller will have to pay rent from the proceed, move around (transport), pay light bill, buy bag of rice. The seller has to survive in Nigeria. Everything in Nigeria has gone up. He needs to make enough money to survive in Nigeria so he raises the price.

First all, every nigerian buy goods from abroad?. Second, this is the reason govt needs to encourage agriculture locally and I will support banning large import of goods (to sell) in nigeria. Ingenious should be encouraged to produce from within by using their brain. You are making other countries rich by importing food product. Nigeria should NEVER allowed that. They have all that locally but no one wants to farm or herds livestocks

Bro, u did not understand my take. I deal in ram as my business which is my source of livelyhood, now I go to the market to buy other products for consumption and prices of those things have gone up, I will definately increase the prices of my ram.

Ohh well, i can understand. But what I am saying is people that sell locally like you sell ram , govt should have lower fixed rate for fuel and other necessities to be able to transport your rams and their basic daily living. That way, you not affected. Price would not jump this high. This is too damn high man.

Well, didnt know you deal in Ram business. Look at the picture below. How much will this cost in Ogun state?. And which state are you located?

This your prayer shall not come to pass. Going by current development, price of rice will be around 12k or less by Christmas. When it happens, you're free to go look for the one of N50k for yourself so you can say "I said it".

This going rate is not much different from last year's.

And that you call Sallah ram "ordinary ram" shows your lack of knowledge about the traditional cost of Salah rams.

Few days to the 2016 Ed-El-Kabir celebration, prices of various sizes of rams have gone up astronomically across Nigerian states such as Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan and oher parts.

Checks by Online media revealed that the prices were higher than what the rams sold for in 2015, with a small size ram now being sold for N30,000 – N40,000 as against N17,000 it was sold last year.

See prices:

Ibadan, Oyo state

Bodija market

Medium ram -N40,000 and N45,000
Big - N100, 000

Sabo

Big - N180, 000 - N250, 000.

Zuba ram depot, Abuja

Medium ram - N60,000 and N65,000,

Big - N100,000 and N180,000.

*It was even discovered that apart from their high cost, rams were not even available in the most of the markets visited at Gwagwalada, Zuba, Mararaba, Nyayan, Lugbe, and Mpape.

Lagos State, Ojota

Big ram - N135,000

Medium ram - N60,000 and N70,000.

Meiran ram market in Meiran area of the Lagos-Abeokuta High way

Smallest ram – N55,000

Big ram - N200,000 and N180,000.

It's a lie, I was @ a ram market in Gbagada yesterday nd d prices are similar 2 last year's. U can't jst Base ur report on asking price. A ram that is placed on 100k may eventually be sold @ 55k after bargaining. Also, there is nothing like small, big nd medium in a ram market. There can be as much as 20 diff size categories in a ram market.

For some years back now ram has been on the high price, it depend on your bargain level and some people do lie about the price of their ram, I saw a ram in my area 2days ago the same size with the one I bought last year at 55k and the person told me 120k. And in some ram market you will be force to turn back to due to high price.... @GameGod, where do u buy your ram at 32k? @tunde222, I had tried gbagada and their price is fair.
