INEC Postpones Edo Election By Two Weeks by alawi5k(op): 5:53pm On Sep 08, 2016
Following intense pressure from security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission will postpone the Edo State governorship election by two weeks.

The election had earlier been scheduled for Saturday September 10, 2016.

Insider source confirmed that the election may now hold in two weeks

There has been apprehension if the election will go ahead, but a reliable source within the INEC confirmed that the election has been postponed.

Investigations further revealed that the police pulled out it’s personnel while the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) refused to deployed Corps members for the Saturday exercise.

The source said that it appears impossible for INEC to deploy staff and material.

He said, “There is no security to escort them simply because they are unavailable. The security agencies are going to formally communicate their security advise to us in a short while

“We shall meet to take a decision. At the moment it is no longer feasible to deploy and conduct the elections
NYSC has advised us that many parents have called to withdraw their children from election duty. Since they form the bulk of election duty personnel, their withdrawal is a major challenge.”

More details shortly…

Buhari that was brought into power by free and fair elections can't seem to arrange one ..Shame on this govt
Re: INEC Postpones Edo Election By Two Weeks by seunmsg(m): 6:25pm On Sep 08, 2016
The postponement will not help any party as most people must have made up their minds on who to vote for. Postponing an election that has been long schedule is irresponsible and doesn't portray INEC, the security agencies and the country in good light. Jonathan started this silly practice and unfortunately, APC is going through the same silly and condemnable route. This is not acceptable.

I can categorically tell you that INEC has an election body have failed us. They have been compromised and as such, can't portray themselves in their tru image. This is very unfair. One time, they were very inconclusive in most of the elections they conducted. Now, they can't even carry an assignment they have been planning for months now.Shame on you. You have really failed us. Nigeria can't be run by just one party.

Nigerians are now missing Jonathan.

No inconclusive election was held through out his tenor as president, but Buhari's govt is flooded with inconclusive and ill-managed elections.

Anyone know the reason for the bolded?

Modified: Tune to ChannelsTV and listen to the rubbish Oshiomole is saying in defense of the postponement. He said it is because of WAEC but Seun Okinbaloye countered him saying the security agencies said it is because of security issues; he then retorted "This is the reason I know". undecided

INEC is really confused!

This morning, we read that the election has been postponed by 3weeks, later, they denied, saying the election will hold as scheduled. Now,they're saying the election has been postponed by 2 weeks again. Why the confusionhuh

Definitely, some powers at the top are at work.

The next general election may as well be extended by 4 years, I warned you lots but your stupidity didn't allow you see what you where yearning for. The era of free and fair election is gone. You lots said if Buhari didn't perform you will vote him out but you forgot you only can vote when you're given the right to vote. If APC can't successfully organize one state or even a local govt election in a day how how are they to organize a general election across the Length and breath of Nigeria?

Omenka, passingshot, obiageli, R3t@rdemdem and other Buhari sycophants is this the change you guys where yearning for? Even Obiageli don't have enough money to buy feed for poultry because of the prize of maize, this was someone who was doing very well and even employing others during the corrupt GEJ era, smh

It is very unfortunate. The reason to postpone the election is not genuine enough. Has Edo State experience any terrorist attack before now?
Why is it suddenly during the elections that terrorist planned to Invade EDO State?

The current INEC chairman should be wary on how his management of INEC represents everything incompetence.
From unfortunate inconclusive elections to a postponed State election.

I can remember just like a week ago, Professor Chidi Odinkalu warned of election not holding in 2019 due to current
political realities and incomplete INEC formation. This is a confirmation that the prophecy of Professor Odinkalu
may become a reality. I fear for Nigeria. 2019 is just 2 years and a few months away and the signs are not good.
