mmsen:This is the most uninformed view . Refineries are everyday industries. We dont need or should be running old distillation pots and think we are doing good things to our economy. This is systemic breakdown brought about by indiscipline and large scale corruption. Why cant we maintain / expand existing refineries?. Why did we not support the private refineries we have licensed before and during Jonathans time which i still believe was the worst and most ineffectual government Nigeria ever had. Refineries are low margin businesses that require efficency and discipline, maybe that is why we are throwing in the towel and even thinking of regularising these distillation pots but you know what?. They used to have one in Sierra Leone. There are good refineries in Jamaica. So apart from Nigerian slackness, corruption, weakness and mediocrity why couldn't we fix and expand existing refineries. They are not even profitable below 30000 barrels per day so even the licensed modular mini refineries will struggle. By the way how are we even going to supply modular refineries?. Truck?, Pipelines..how many of them? Railways..where are the tracks?. Before PDP came into government, the NNPC was running refineries. In the 70s and 80s, they had the most sophisticated distribution network for refined products called PPMC. All that has gone down the drain bevause of GREED and dead brain, clueless and corrupt fools in government. We need to develop some DISCIPLINE for Chrissakes. Any way the following are the harmful effects of crude oil. I know most Nigerians are dumb, lazy and undisciplined but there is a price to pay for every thing; 1. Crude oil is TERATOGENIC ' birth defects and fetal distortion. Niger Delta children don't deserve this future because their parents voted for fools into government 2. Crude oil contains benzene- Carcinogenic compound 3 . Liver damaging compounds 4 . Central nervous system damage 5. Pollution to fishing waters 6. Destruction of mangrove swamps - mangrove forests takes 60 years to grow. We noticed this trend during Jonathan's regime of always "begging " every problem, negotiating with every crime, striking deals with every demon just out of cowardice and lack of balls. It is not what government is about. Please try it with your Children, they will eventually kill you before your time and throw into the gutter. Nothing good comes easy and you must develop disciplane to make systems work. Nigeria wants to go nuclear and has Dumbo said "go to the moon". It takes balks, hardness and self duscipl5on a mass scale to do those things |

Adminisher:You have made a series of uninformed, prejudicial statements. I said that those who have knowledge of the business should sit down with financiers so as to come up with a plan to continue their business in a safe, civil manner. Not to continue the same low level bunkering that they engage in currently. A well thought-out business plan presupposes that those involved have engaged in planning, which is the discipline that you speak of. As to your claim that GEJ's government was the worst that Nigeria ever had, you must be drunk or just simply very simple minded. Nigeria had Yar'adua in which nothing besides bribe paying took place; OBJ in which money for electricity generation schemes vanished into thin air; Abacha, Babangia and Buhari who all destroyed Nigeria to such an extent that Nigeria was one of the poorest nations on the African continent in 1998. I know that people like you hate data but the evidence shows that you are wrong on GEJ. |

mmsen:There is no safe , efficient , profitable manner to run refineries below 30000barrels per day capacity. I am saying that authoritatively. I have done some consulting in that industry. I know what I am talking about. Even modular refineries DON'T if you do the business plan feasilbility work not to talk of "tin pot distillation pots". It is serious confusion you want to cause with the supply chain of barges of crude from Bonny and Forcados, taking crude to 300 mini refineries inside fragile ND ecosystems for refining in small refineries. God, it is too scary to think of. The pollution, insecurity, public health issues, destructive of ecology, social systems and so on is too scary to be imagined. And in 2020, electric cars come on the scene and we realise we are actually born STUPID in this country. My heavy condemnation of the Jonathan government was due to the institutional weaknesses of the era which led to the masses thinking that cutting corners in anything was desirable and possibly government subsidised. |

Adminisher:Where are you picking your statements from? Where did I mention 30,000 bpd? You keep repeating tin pot distilleries as if I said that is what they should be doing. If they are talking to financiers then they will need to come to an agreement that is worthwhile for both parties. I've noticed that a lot of you guys are very peculiar in how you discuss issues - you introduce topics and statements that the other party didn't make in order to appear to have information, even though it's clear that you do not. P.S. You are not an 'authority' on anything, besides yourself. You claim that Nigerians are born stupid, which is itself an idiotic statement. No one is 'born stupid', only raised in an erroneous manner. Maybe you meant that you feel that you were born stupid, if so you have my sympathy. From what you have written and the manner that you express yourself I can understand your self-doubt and low self esteem. |

bashydemy:Why should I START shouting that at least DullardPoo is doing something to secure Niger Delta oil revenue that is shared every month for the 774 LGAs, 36 states and the federal government? At least if your "only saviour" cannot stabilise oil price, he should be able to stabilise oil supply while he is searching in the Chad basin and Benue basin, not so ![]() https://www.osundefender.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Muhammadu-Buhari.jpg www.nairaland.com/attachments/2186280_buhari2blaugh1_jpegc35d9ea4e30142f9302718e17f58f220 |
