You, however, need to understand how to apply for a credit card and have a good credit score. Depending on the bank, some may give you an interest-free credit for your first usage.

If bank loan is on OUTRAGEOUS interest now, then fixed deposit should also be on OUTRAGEOUS interest.

This is the right time to fix deposit if condition stated above is OUTRAGEOUSLY right.

The best application of the word 'loan' is when a footballer goes on 'loan' to another club,the bank type of loan is only sweet for people that owe banks billions,people like Dangote!

This terms are surely not for blue chip coys as blue chips companies determine their conditions themselves if it ok with the bank fine, if not the next bank is waiting to give then on that conditions.

Blue companies are the one with credibility and reasonable operates profitably whether in good or bad market, example of blue chip in Nigeria are Nigeria Brewery, Dangote, Chevron, nestle etc

It should be particularly noted that commercial bank loans should be avoided as much as possible by those seeking it for non-business purposes or those just starting a business. It's too risky to gamble into that in a volatile economy like ours.
I would rather advice micro finance loans for start up business or cooperative /work place loans for other personal purposes.

Why is that?

To use a bank loan to start a business? Not advisable at all. The incubation period for a start up is 3-5 years so how do you service your loan when you still finding your feet? If it's to expand the business fine but not starting a new one unless there's a business you're running aside which can help in servicing the loan.

Doing that is a high risk gamble and not advisable.

Workers that took bank loan now are regretting . Some that were supposed to have finished the payment by January have been extended to December this year because of the delay in salary. More also, the interest has increased more than 4 times in the Pace of 3 years. In fact some had to take cooperative loan to pay off their bank loan. Bank loan its killing and its a killer. The best best way to early grave.
In fact someone told me that in her place of work two people that collected bank loan died and the bank said they would spread the people loan across the living loan debtors.
I prefer savings for a long period of time to bank loan or at best cooperative.
