The cool thing about the jacked up way Nigerians do business is it is always a case study of how things should not be done. There is no ideology when it comes to the values and political leanings of the average Nigerian. Well, sort of. Their values is often dictated by money and who can provide it. When you go to England, their citizens either belong to the Labour party, because they believe in the rights and power of the average worker, the conservative party, because of their belief in the old school values, or the Liberal party, which believes in changing with the modern times. In the U.S, you have the Democrats, who are very liberal and believe so much in individual expression and personal freedom while you have the Republicans who prefer the old school christian values and the right to bear arms. In these countries, the way you think will determine which party you fall under. If you ask an average Nigerian which party he belongs to, he'll either tell you, PDP or APC. If you ask him why, he most likely will say it is the party that will see the country to Eldorado. If you then ask what values the party holds or stands for, you'll get the deer in a headlights look. They have no clue. No one knows the values or the political leanings of either parties. The only thing holding these politicians together in both parties is the quest for wealth which is why you have politicians "decamping" at will. In America, it is political suicide for a Republican to "decamp" to the democratic party and vice versa. That politician will never be trusted ever again. What Nigerians don't understand is, until we start to define the values that each political parties has or stands for in this country we will never move forward politically. We'll continue going round in circles. You cannot just support or join a party because of an individual. You have to know if the way you are thinking is the same way the person you are supporting, or party is thinking. Promises don't mean squat when both of you are not on the same page. I hope for Nigeria's sake it's citizens wake up from this mental slumber they all seem to be in since independence.

Ur ryt. political parties in Nigeria don't have Ideologies. But I support the PDP, not cos the PDP is a Gud party. But cos I don't see the APC as a beta option. U know wat they say abt 'the devil u know'.

I guess it's the choice we've been given. As for me, I'd rather not be part of any but be a critic of both.

I voted apc to get pdp out
Re: Why Do You Support The Party Of Your Choice? by LMFashions: 5:33am On Sep 15, 2016
When APC started I was very excited and even registered as a member. I saw APC as a party who can at least give us something new with the vast majority of young minds in it but when I realized dat it was the same old unrepentant Buhari dat they could come up with and we had to queue for, dat was it. There was no way I could take dat. The worst of GEJ is far better than better than Buhari. And to PDP I returned.

Even the die hard politicians don't even know why they are in the party they belong... grin...its all about the money men...Our political parties are bereft of values...just thieves they all are..

That's why they can jump into the next party as long as they can remain relevant and keep stealing.... cheesy

exactly...that's the ideology...political parties in Nigeria are just there to steal from the people...no standards that they live up to...just keep stealing...

I hate PDP because they stand for nothing than selfshness, greed and massive unprecedented criminal activities.

I know nigerians are blessed with very short memory, but these same people abusing Buhari will sing his praise eventually!

of course they have standards. Don't share money to delegates and rice to voters and see whether you win election

@OP, I didn't get the mention on time, I'm surprised I'm just seeing this now. This is a very important question you raised. Each party should have what it stands for, its ideologies which are unique to that party. However I think its an issue in most developing countries (Nigeria being an underdeveloped country), that political parties (if they exist) repeat the same hogwash implying that they stand for 'moving the country forward', in other words, making it become a developed country. It's only when the basics like food, water, electricity, and so on have been taken care of that people can actually focus on the real issues. However, the insincerity of Nigerian politicians has been evident in our slow growth as a nation. The unpatriotic nature of our citizens too contributes to it so basically I'm saying we Nigerians get the leaders we deserve. This is just my opinion though, its open to scrutiny.

Aint nothing changed bro. The only car owners who dont give bribe are those who dont drive thecars.
Dont you see those posts where it isr eported that a policeman (or soldier) shot some driver... the commenrs are usually
"Ohh he shoulda given the police... its just 20#"

I had to ask. These guys are arguing with me like I am crazy. I started to doubt myself which is why I asked you. And I don't mean ever single person in Nigeria obviously. But they need to be shocked into reality.

The problem is you take them a little too seriously. They will deny and continue to bury their heads in sand or point fingers. Is there one mofo who doesnt give /recieve bribe, give or take kickbacks? or has his hands in some sort of fraudulent shìt in this cesspit?

I wonder why threads like this don't make the front page. 2019 is almost here and it would be nice to begin to orientate Nigerian voters on what they should expect from prospective leaders. Sadly, we are more interested in Snakes and other less important matters.
