If anybody's surprised at this then they've lived under a rock the past 37 odd years. This country is cursed to never get electricity distribution right. This is not a curse but a full blown reality.
until states start to handle their business we would never progress as a nation...i can remember when back then in bayelsa during the alameiseigha era bayelsa enjoyed light 3 months uninterrupted..if ever the power firm in charge had to take light an announcement was made on radio bayelsa and after that light continues...that all stopped the moment NEPA crept into bayelsa state...i so hate this country... angry angry angry

we would never enjoy constant light until each state or region is allowed to provide its own power...

Now that there is cease fire in the Niger delta region, we still haven't gotten it right. Unbundle power completely and let each state provide power for her citizens. System collapse every day.
my point too...i have seen it work...imagine if states like lagos or rivers state had to generate their own power...just imagine...

Everything in Nigeria has a structural problem. We are wasting our time until the states are empowered to do things without Abuja interference

You are a pained wailer!

Buhari is cleaning the 16 years rot of PDP!

Tell me, if you want to wash your car engine, don't you first turn it off before washing it? The same applies for the power stations. You have to turn them off to fight corruption.
When we generated 0 MW, did you think it was by accident? Infact, my impeccable sources revealed to me that, on that very day, Baba was right there, in the power station control room, fighting corruption.
The only people angry about the economy are PDP members!

You are just angry.

I stand with Buhari!

Chei Buhari!

Lol. Nigeria is the only country in the world where power generation rise and fall like a Pen****s. It would rise again when it sees one fine chick and fall after the action. This country is just like a movie, somebody should just produce it in a DVD and let's start watching it.

This system called Nigeria has stopped working before 70s any dreamer who is still vast dreaming about a change is a big fool. Buhari is here to do his part and leave us for good because if he succeeded in changing the country, it will later be a business as usual. God bless Nigeria and Buhari and serious Nairalander

How long will Power supply continue to be on the exclusive reserve list of the FG? States should be allowed to generate power and pass on the excess to the national grid, that way they have lesser things to worry about

Power System in Nigeria is a great deal. If we generate 6000MW today, where is the transmission system? This same one that has not seen any maintenance for how many years. Why won't there be system collapse.
I have noticed that the system collapses whenever we go beyond 5000MW. Let's localize or regionize the power system.
Re: 10 Power Plants Shut, 1,041MW Lost by Cletus77(m): 3:48pm On Sep 19, 2016
Can't some eligible states produce their own electricity like Akwa Ibom state?? Total dependency does not help... Right now the akwa ibomites are enjoying good power supply,i urge some states that are capable to learn from dis, and states dat can't should still be dependent on the federal supply, and you will see great changes in the power sector!

True, but I don't turn off my engine 17 times to wash it. I turn it off, let it cool. Wash it. Rinse it. Wash it again. Rinse well. Then I even rub small petrol on it to make it shine. Then I even add small oil sef and top off other fluids. Then it's good for long while because I washed it right the first time. grin

Lol pathetic weren't were jumping and clapping for him having 4000 megawatts. The power grid needs to be managed by actual engineers. I already made post on how to handle it. 3 separate grids like usa. States are allowed to make their own if they choose to. Every state won't be feasible for generating their own power.

Let's be clear 4k megawatts for a country of 170 million people is pathetic. It's nothing to celebrate unless your a bottom feeder. We are in 1900s it's 2016. This should not be an issue.

States can provide their own electricity.
The only thing the FG does is transmission which in my opinion should be broken down into 3 or 4 units.
Generation right now is in the hands of private companies.
