The Nigeria Labour Congress has challenged the wife of the former President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, to disclose how she made the $31m found in some accounts recently frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The President of the NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, told journalists on the sidelines of ‘NLC National Youth Conference’ in Abuja on Tuesday, that the former First Lady had a responsibility to prove to Nigerians that the money in question was legitimately earned.

Wabba also challenged Mrs. Jonathan to tell Nigerians the kind of business she had been doing to make such a huge amount of money.

The NLC’s President said the former First Lady would have been made to forfeit the money to the government in other countries.

He said it had always been the position of the NLC that all those who stole public funds should be duly investigated and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

He urged the government to extend the fight against corruption to states and local government areas in the country.

“We have said it over and over again that NLC is the first organisation that actually supported openly the anti-graft war. We said recover, investigate and prosecute so that it can serve as a deterrent.

Our position has been clear on the issue of the frozen $31m. In this respect, the onus of prove is on the ex-First Lady. First, she must inform all of us the sources of the money. She must explain what business she has done to accumulate such wealth. In other climes, people would have forfeited such funds. This is our position and we have......

Can you also show us where they asked Dambazau to "disclose how he made" so much billions from the monthly deduction of N1 billion from soldiers salary?
I am sure you also have the source of the story where NLC asked Dogara to "disclose how he made" billions from budget padding.
Lest I forget there is also EFCC's maguN that needs to disclose himself also to NLC whose workers are on a minimum wage of N18,000 that is hardly complied with and even owed for several months while public servants steal and spoil themselves silly at our expense.

Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has rented a mansion in the elitist Maitama District of the Federal capital territory (FTC) Abuja, News Express can report this morning.

The storey building located at No. 8B, Rudolf Close, off Katsina Ala Crescent, in the highbrow Maitama District, was the abode of a former federal minister who died some time in May 2014.

An impeccable source said: “The property was rented to the Acting EFCC Chairman for N40,000,000 at N20,000,000 per annum.

“Furthermore, the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) curiously awarded a contract to Africa Energy, a company owned by Rtd Air Comm. Umar Muhammad, to furnish the residence at the cost N43,000,000, in a Government where the President is known to have frowned at and rebuked his ministers for requesting N20,000,000 each to secure accommodation and furnish them.

“It is shocking that the man spearheading the anti-corruption crusade of the government will be involved in such a venture. More surprising is the involvement of FCDA in renting a house for EFCC and under what arrangement.”

News Express made efforts to get the reaction of Magu and EFCC but the commission’s spokesmen Osita Nwajah and Wilson Uwujaren did not respond to text messages sent to them seeking their reaction to the story.

Are you by chance a public servant or just a close relation and/or friend to several?
Perhaps you learnt this from Mama Yaro whose husband, the current Aso Rock tenant said did not steal our money. Meanhwile the wife dey enjoy the unrecovered loot dey go yanfu yanfu without any NLC asking her to "disclose how she made" her trillions.
