It has been the tradition of Muslims from time immemorial that Mecca is a holy land where stealing, killing and crimes shouldn't take place. This isn't something new. If a pilgrim cannot be honest enough and sincere with his God to return what doesn't belong to him in a land he believes is holy, then was he there to worship or steal? The point is not every story should be politicized and used for propaganda. Keeping Mecca sacred is a Muslim duty and certainly did not start today.
