HungerBAD:Morning sir. I must say you have taken this message in absolutely the worst possible way. Let me try to break down his argument from another angle. There are two economies in nigeria: one for the rich/middle class and one for the common man. The rich/middle class economy is in recession today, whereas the common man's recession has been in existence since the 80's. Try to understand his message clearly. The fall of oil prices has exposed our former economic policy to be fraudulent. The nigerian idea is that if you go to school and work hard, with a little luck (connection), you shall be prosperous. So many qualified people are unemployed today based on this view. Government employs the few it can every year, yet the unemployment situation is not getting any better. Government makes comments that youths should be entrepreneurs yet electricity, water, healthcare, roads, funding, and basic educated masses which are factors necessary to aid businesses remain absent. If Mr. President wants to change nigeria's future for the better, his current actions will be opposite. He will gradually reduce large numbers of federal government staff and then pump money into infrastructure. If he doesn't reduce workers, this current recession will make the naira continue to lose value and further impoverish the masses. He has a tough decision to make and so far, he has made the wrong one. He would also implement a high tax regime targeted at the rich and middle class, taxing their cars and their houses to raise more funding for infrastructural. He would also put pressure on state governments to do the same thing, but he isn't doing this, is he? Many people in his government understand this. But their voices are been silenced. Kemi adeosun gets this but she is as powerless on that sit as Ngozi Iweala was. From an article written last year, it is clear Charles Soludo gets this. Emir Sanusi is 90 percent on the same page. Dele Momodu only recently understood this and he is making sure nigerians know that his views have changed. Obasanjo has been crying about this for the better part of three years now, writing an article every six months complaining bitterly about the monster unemployment is becoming. Even Emefiele is finally on this same page that things cannot continue as there have been, calling on the executive to tax the rich and not simply flood the rich with more money to further waste. This recession is an opportunity to correct the wrongs from the past. It may cost Buhari political capital but he would place nigeria on the path of limitless growth. Nigerians by nature are hustlers. We will surely reach the promise land. In Kemi's words, Recession is word. The rest of us have been in recession our whole lives. We voted Buhari not to continue the elite system of running government of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich, but to create an enabling environment for all of us to prosper. Mr. Dele Momodu may be an Yoruba and English degree holder but that does not make him any less patriotic than the next Nigerian. He is being a voice of wisdom, his role as a journalist, you should listen. |

I say a very big NO to the grand plot by President Muhammadu Buhari to sell off our NLNG, NNPC and other collective assets. This is a misanthropic, inauspicious, egregious and malicious move to put the economic wellbeing and livelihood of all Nigerians in the pockets of few parochial minded feudal lords and northern oligarchs. Who is buying? Under what condition? To be sold at a scrap value? Posterity will not forgive us if we fold our hands and watch as Buhari sells off our collective wealth to his cronies. Whoever necessitated this idea is selfish, and should be resisted by all. They said they want to use the proceeds to take the country out of its current reversed-gear mode, what a lame excuse! What about the over N3trillion reportedly returned by looters? How about the billions borrowed so far by this administration? |

HungerBAD:Bros let's call a spade a spade. He is absolutely correct and on point here. If everyone were to consider their degree , no body would speak. And i strongly believe they aren't listening that's why he has resorted to writing online. If we must tell ourselves the truth. This government from the presidency to the governors hate any form of criticisms and that is not a good sign for a supposedly progressive government. They are only good at telling lies.. |

HungerBAD:You people will help Buhari to kill us all. You are describing what is happening temporary abi. If Buhari refused to change this his team and the economy continue as at is, I can bet you I will be the first to pick gun or any other instrument to fight because I am totally feed up. I must confess that things are damn and extremely too hard for some of us. The money I make from my farm is just not buying any thing in turn to prepare food any more. Imagine prices of food stuff are so high. It is no longer joke. There is no hope at sight. Buhari should change his team and let us see if things will not change first. Life is too hard please. Too, let him reconsider his method of fighting corruption. If he continue to investigation people account, evaluate thier ways before today and then take decision that that individual is too rich such that he may have been corruptly become rich, buhari is creating so many enemies and at the end almost every one will get feed up and they will secretly frustrate him and will also pray and do things to run him down. Am betting you. Just wait and see things turn for the worst. |

If our dear president had an inkling of an idea of what to do here he would have forgotten about his unending blame games and hypocritical grip on his mirage called anti corruption... He seems to me to be more clueless than ever now... Imagine calling out to Nigerians in Diaspora to invest in a country with an unfavourable business climate and firms are shutting down and all... Can you beat that?? |

HungerBAD:Dear Sir, Dele had visited President Buhari earlier this year where he relayed the same message to him in Aso Rock but yet there was no Change by the Master of Change himself as the blame game continued without abetting while no serious Policies were put in place to turn things around . Therefore the action of Dele going public with his criticism is well justified! Regards. |

Raziii:Dear Dele Momodu, I'm not very such that you'll read this, but the internet has a certain ubiquitousness about it, a certain overriding omnipresence. Hence, I'll continue. I'll try to be blunt and brief. As you've made a suggestion to the President, one out of your many suggestions, I'm obliged to make one to you— I suggest you immediately cease from your, quite frankly, repugnant act of self-righteousness which is made more repugnant by an inherent, almost stifling hypocrisy. You see Egbon Dele, Nigerians can see through that hypocrisy. And these applies to your fellow comrades at ThisDay, Simon Kolawale and Segun Adeniyi. You see, a certain school of thought suggests that journalists make part of the compendium of the society called, "intellectuals." The Proletariats are unable to drive change or a revolution without these intellectuals, and the middle class. Journalists are supposed to be fair, balanced and pragmatic, displaying a higher level of these attributes than the society which they report about. That is where YOU and YOUR crew failed and missed it. You left yourself get driven and instructed to by your emotions, Dele, in pursuing a candidacy of the man whom Nigerians had rejected thrice, who is educationally backward, who has no 21st Century leadership competency, who is as divisive and as tribalistic as one can come, because of a hate of GEJ, because, primarily, of the hate of the Igbo man. Don't you know tribalism is as evil as murder— or even worse? You derided, insulted, demonised and attended to delegitimise every achievement of GEJ and his team. You can of course claim that you wanted a better alternative, which is fine. Humans are hardly satisfied, you see. However, this is where my empathy stops; can you claim that Buhari is an upgrade, of any sorts, on GEJ or even YaArdua or Obj? Unless you enjoy the ridiculous, you know this is not possible. So what drove your blind support? Don't tell me the handling of Boko Haram, please. It does not need a Dele Giwa-styled investigative journalism to prove the link between the rise of BH and utterances and other influences from and by the North. After all, there was a certain vow to, make the country ungovernable. What have those "caring" Northern elites done about the world's biggest humanitarian disaster— the millions of IDPs in the North East? Nothing. They have "their" power back. Hence, shut up, my dear sir. This self-righteousness and political correct nonsense is naueseating. Enjoy the grimacing irony, as the port jobs largely in Lagos, move to Ghana; as the aviation jobs move from Lagos to Ghana; enjoy the irony as the middle-men and ordinary man in the supply chain, loose jobs and loose livelihoods due to sky-high inflation rates; enjoy, as the middle-class margins shrink and shrink. Enjoy the paradox as your company sheds staffs and record losses. Pardon the lengthiness of this. Like I've earlier said, Nigerians can see from this your dance of shame. I understand the need to continually churn out opinion pieces as this; there's a psychological thirst, albeit with a short-lived calmness, to assuage one's conscience, by lying to oneself loudly, publicly—and this is best done in articles. But, my dear Egbon Dele, this is short-lived, the redemption. I'm certain you know what to do to get back some peace of mind which, by the intensity and sporadic nature of your pieces, you seem to need. You know what to do— you, S.Kolawale and S. Adeniyi. Speak the truth and cease these banal political correctness. But this requires humility, hence it'll be tough. You might even claim some of your credibility back in the process. |

Raziii:@Dele Momodu, one cannot give what you do not have. It is obvious President Buhari does not have the requisite economic knowledge. No matter how much of integrity you have, it does not translate to being someone with high economic sense. I believe that the president is many years behind in terms of comprehension of the current realities. I have never seen anything done differently from previous administration, instead we have seen worse policies being made and which have brought us to where we are in just 16months. You cannot continue doing things the same way and expect a different result. Different results results demand different approach, and so far, I have seen NONE. God bless Nigeria. |

HungerBAD:If buhari rapes and impregnates your mom, you will still see no fault in him. You keep on contradicting yourself, like an empty zombie would do. You first said he raised salient points, but later said he is not qualified to know the right thing to do. How can an unqualified person (according to you) be raising salient economic points? Is buhari bribing you people to canverse for him online? Yes, he studied Yoruba and he is a prominent Nigerian today. What did you study? How come your own higher/better studies hasn't made any useful impact in your life or on Nigerians? Despite your "better" study, you still had no voice or impact. Isn't that shameful? |

@Dele Momodu. From your sugestion, the reason Buhari dont have the guts to sack most of his cabinets esp the finance ministry and economic team is this. Most of the policy that sumersulted and brought this hardship was initiated by Buhari mr know all. His consience wont permit him to sack innocent people. You mention one of the policy in your write up. The banned placed on domiciluary acct and debit card oversea. It took Kemi to bring that IMF woman to convince him before he agree to soft peddal on d policy. This singular policy drove away investors which is the major reason for dollar scarcity. I could remember his body language and statement concerning the above policy in the last presidencial chat and its clearely shows he was d one that gave those instructions not knowing d consequence. He didnt know anything about economics and his cabinet is too afraid of him to tell him the truth then. No sane economist or finance minister or cbn gov can ever support that policy. He sees anybody who has contrary opinon then as currupt or aiding curruption. That night i watched the last presidencial chat i told my Son that he should mark my word, buhari govt will fail economically because as u just said, too much anger sometimes beclouds reasoning. He was too angry then that he cannot reason well. Lets remember that you cannot cut head to cure an headache. I also remember when he wanted to sign an agreement concerning recorvering nigeria loots in Dubai and kemi Adeosun caution him about the consequence of the agreement he wanted to sign though it was a rumour but i heard he wanted to sack Kemi and he warned him seriously. So how do you want such cabinet to perform when their opinion or advice cannot see the light of the day. Buhari is a dictator. I think he has soft peddal now that things have gone bad but unfurtunately his cabinet has little experience to find solution or correct the errors because none of them have gone through this before. So in a nut shell i wont totally blame his cabinets. GOD will see us through. Amen. |

So because of your hatred for Igbos, you'd rather dine with a 7 headed demon and loose your life in the process? To think of the fact that some fools liked his comment says a lot about the mentality of Nigerians.. Little wonder some of them carry Igbo matter for head like agege bread (even when Igbos don't go about killing them) but are always quick to shield those ones killing them at the slightest provocation.. [quote author=HungerBAD post=49639695]Dele Momodu. It is just sad, that somebody who knows how to get across to the President should now descend this low,by dancing to the the dance rhythm of a section of the polity, which for a lack of better definition,I will call the wailers. So I went through his write up,and to be fair to him. Some of the issues and points he raised are valid ones, but there are ways he could have sent his ideas and working policies to the Presidency, but what did he do?he went to the Public to post,so as to make a mockery of this Government. The way human nature is,is that everybody becomes a Medical Doctor when somebody becomes sick, with funny Prescriptions . So Nigeria is going through a temporary economic challenge, and everybody, including Dele Momodu has now turned into an Economist. What did he study again?Yoruba. A man with a first degree in Yoruba Language, all of a sudden wants to be an Economic Adviser. A man with a Masters Degree in English Language, all of a sudden is knowing more than Buhari's sound Economic teams, who are busy trying to pull us out from the pit hole the PDP dug and threw us in. Dele Momodu should stick to his Glossy Magazine business, and leave the Serious matter of Governance to those in the know about Governance. I partly agree with Ur summation. Our discipline doesn't necessary define ur boundaries of reasonable advice...education trains d mind. Besides, did U give it a second thought, perhaps he has approached d gorvernment with such advice and was never taken seriosly? Dont forget he's a friend to the President and Femi Adesina...he's been invited to Aso Rock before. I always go through Ur comment though, I think I like them. |
