They blame Recession on PDP, now power loss on pipeline vandalisation....

SMH well light don increase for my area, i wont lie....
But the power bill is too much, how can a room n palor pay 18k for month, is my room a factory?

Ehen why is it dat most of the news explaining the problem and solution to economy palava are gotten when dis people are not in nigeria? Why did dey decide to eliminate press conference.

If want to know what any minister has done or is doing wait untill he/she is presenting a statement outside nigeria....

Why? cry

Are we not worthy of explanation?

Is so suprising that my friend that experienced morethan 24hrs electricity supply here in Lagos, Nigeria this month still used his constant fully charged phone to abuse this minister of power. Is just strange! We are not there yet but there is a sign we will. Thanks to wailers that help keep them on their toes.

When Nebo was saying it clearly during the era of GEJ many thought he has nothing to offer, but today those that believe 24hrs light isn't a rock science are now putting blames on constant vandalism of gas lines. So GEJ and his team were right after all. More truth will be revealed.

I see Nigerians are very mischievious pple. Light has generally improved in the last 2 months. In fact I got back to lagos yesterday and my light hasn't blinked in almost 24 hours. i was in delta state, onitsha & a remote village in anambra - its the same thing; there was improved power supply. So I think the minister of darkness banter should stop for now & lets exercise more patience admitting that we see some results.
Re: Nigeria Lost 3000mw Of Electricity In The Last Six Months – Fashola by Babzrockman: 9:19am On Sep 27, 2016
It's very clear now that some of the commentators react to headlines rather than the body/contents.

If they generate 1MW and we enjoy the supply of power d way we are experiencing now. I think is better than when they generated 5,000MW and we didn't enjoy the power supply.

I remember Buhari said last August, that power generation is not our problem. But power transmission. And with current development, thats just d fact.

I just cant stop myself from liking this man. He has buried himself in his work and he is not meddling into politics of blame game. Rather he appreciated the work of the previous administration in his ministry. Tell me why he will not do better than the previous administration.

If you immerse yourself in blame game, you will see reasons not to perform.

if we Nigerians are objective in our judgements, we would have realise that over the past few months, electricity has improved compare to previous years, Rome was not built in a day, slow and steady, we will get there.

But was it not same Electricity they initially told us improved base on PMB body languagehuh

They have all gone to USA and continue the blame games thinking Investors would pity them and come in... Western world don't pity you but look at business viability and profit interest.

Let them stay in USA and continue belittling this nation instead of coming back home after the UNGA to faction out ways to revive the economy.

APC shame. All their promises were on paper

Simply put the activity of Avengers has been counterproductive to Nigeria. Our foreign exchange earnings have been affected as well as gas supply to turbines. IMHO a full scale war that will either be won by one side should be fought once and for all.

Did you read the article? You re dumb?
Oh please shut up, I read the damn article, Fashola during GEJ's govt said that providing regular electricity is not a rocket science while he was comissioning a power plant he built in Lagos, now he's the minister of power, he is busy giving us the excuse of vandalism which ironinically was the reason previous administrations gave for not providing regular electricity, so all u hypocritical and dumb APC supporters buying the same excuse now should stay off my mentions, am tired of arguing with retards and slowpokes.

RichYoungNigger:
How hard is it to provide 24 hour power supply in Nigeria ??

Is it money ?? The Nigerian government can buy the equipment or engine that would provide 24 hour power supply

I'm beginning to understand that Nigeria is cursed
Hey man, you asked a very interesting question which many Nigerians sure have asked themselves severally with no clues to what the correct answer is. Let me try to help with some key info.

Nigeria currently generate not more than 5,050MW of electricity (at full installed capacity) from a handful of FG, states and privately owned hydro & gas fired thermal generators. To contrast our deficiency, The University of California (Berkley) USA had installed capacity of 6,000MW back in 2006!!

Have you heard of the BRICS nations? This is the informal association of Brazil, Russia, India, China & S/Africa who meet annualy to agree on growth targets among themselves to remain the top emerging markets coalition in the world. In 2010, they agreed on electricity generation target of 1MW/mille of population i.e. each country must generate 1MW of electricity for every 1,000 human beings of their population. South Africa, the poorest of this group, made the mark in 2014 and today they generate about 53,000MW for their population of 52million people.

If Nigeria were to reach the same level as the BRICS nations, we would require 170,000MW for our population of 170million!! Presently, we are less than 3% of S/Africa's standard. Are we not just a very poor country? What do we need to catch up you ask? Power generating units relying on hydro, thermal, solar, biofuel, nuclear sea waves energy; expansion of existing transmission system, creating redundances within the grid; power distribution units with proper cabling and fundctional transformers; billing system that makes it more dificult for consumers to game the system et al et al.

How much money do we require to fund these projects and how long will it take to get to this level you ask? My rough estimation (and I am not an expert in financing power projects) is tens of billions of dollars over a 15years' period. Maybe US$30B to US$50B over a 20years' period. Does Nigeria have this money now? Can our federal budget accommodate this? No. So what is the way forward, you ask?

We have to be ingenious. We have to encourage private investment like we did in the telecoms industry. The firms with the funds and expertise to carry out these type of projects exist in very few countries like Germany, France, UK, Russia, USA, Japan and well, China. We have to find ways to befriend them and woo them to see such projects as viable and worthwile. Bombing of existing installations by our own vagabonds will also not encourage foreign firms to throw their funds into our market.

If you consider all of the above and if you are realistic about it, Nigeria will remain in the dark for the foreseeable future.

There will never be steady power supply in Nigeria because a very powerful well-known elite in nigeria is the major distributor of Mikano generators in West Africa and Nigeria is his biggest market. I won't mention his name.
