lies upon lies upon lie upon lies.......................virtually all the answers above are false. Now here comes the answer 117 + 137 +157 = 30 proof 117 = 1 X 71 + 1 X 70 (1 X 7) + (1 X 1) 7 + 1 = 8 137 = 1 X 71 + 3 X 70 (1 X 7) + (3 X 1) 7 + 3 = 10 157 = 1 X 71 + 5 X 70 (1 X 7) + (5 X 1) 7 + 5 = 12 hence the final answer becomes 8 + 10 + 12 = 30. hence they expect the question to be answered with critically thinking.... THIS IS TO EVERYBODY IN THE HOUSE.... WHENEVER YOU SEE A STATISTICIAN JUST SAY HELLO.....AND WE MUST GIVE U THE ANSWER BEHIND THE "HELLO" if you think i got it RIGHT click LIKE and if otherwise click share? shalom!!!!! 6 Likes 2 Shares |

hUmaneOne: nice i also got mine.....and besides my approach and his approach are same all from the BINOMIAL COEFFICIENT.... every thing i used was in the bracket....... he then introduce COMBINATION....i also introduce NUMBER BASE..... all have binomial origins BUT I THINK AM GONA GO WITH MINE REASON IS BECAUSE i used number base which almost everybody would or must have come across but he went a bit higher to introduce COMBINATION offcourse not everybody could or would have meet that....... SO LEAVE THE INDIANS.....WE NIGERIA'S ARE GOOD TOO.... abegie send the message to the indian man to let him know we are better in his own riddle than he thinks...lol |

The question is not correct because there is no way you can add 3 "odd" numbers to give you "even" number. Its impossible |
Re: You Think You Know Maths ? Try This. by Lovexme(m): 6:47pm On Sep 30, 2016 |
Addition or 3 odd numbers cannot equal to an even number. Only works with 2 odd numbers. |

Using trick solutions; Use the factorial function in your answer: 11 + 3! (1*2*3, which equals 6) + 13 = 30 Change the mathematical base system of the equation in certain places (this can give an answer with multiple bases or a single base): For single bases: ..For multiple bases... 910+910+910=309910+910+910=309. A number which appears as "30" when written in a different base system doesn't represent "thirty" in base ten. When written in base 9 as 309309, is equivalent to twenty seven in base ten: (27102710). Or using all the same base: 135+115+15=305135+115+15=305 in base five, which is equivalent to (810+610+110=1510)(810+610+110=1510) in base ten. Or 139+159+19=309139+159+19=309 in base nine. Use the commas given in the question to your advantage: In many countries the comma (,) is used instead of the full stop (.) to represent a decimal point. For example "3.5" (three and a half) can be written as "3,5". This allows for the solution 11,3 + 15,7 + 3 = 30. Only use numbers in two of the brackets: You could leave one of the brackets blank and have the answer as () + (15) + (15) = 30. The first fifteen represents a fifteen with a "unary plus" (+15) and the second fifteen added to the first one gives us thirty. The first bracket is left empty. Rotate one of the accepted numbers so that it resembles a different number: If the number 9 is rotated 180 degrees then it can resemble the number 6. 6 (an upside down number "9" + 9 + 15 = 30. The five solutions in this section are trick solutions, answering in a similar way to how you would answer a riddle. If you want to have three odd numbers which when added together produce an even number, there are no solutions. 100+ Answers Pranav Shankar Pranav Shankar, Double majoring in Combinatorial Optimization and Computer Science. Updated Jan 15 My question had been merged with another one and as a result, I have added the previous answer to the present one. Hopefully this provides a clearer explanation. Just using the numbers given there, it's not possible, because odd + odd = even, even + odd = odd. 30 is an even number, the answer of 3 odd numbers must be odd, it's a contradiction. If what people say is true, then the question is wrongly phrased its any number of operations within those three brackets must lead to 30. Then it becomes a lot easier. Such as 15 + 7 + (7 + 1). That would give 30. But it assumes something that the question does not state explicitly and cannot be done that way. I still stick to my first point, it can't be done within the realm of math and just using three numbers, if not, then the latter is a way to solve it. EDIT: This question has come up many times, Any odd number can be expressed as the following, Let n,m,pn,m,p be an odd number, n=1(modn=1(mod 2),m=1(mod2),m=1(mod 2),p=1(mod2),p=1(mod 2)2) n+m+p=1+1+1(modn+m+p=1+1+1(mod 2)2) Let's call n+m+pn+m+p as xx =>x=3(mod=>x=3(mod 2)2) Numbers in modulo n can be added, I'll write a small proof for it below, a=b(moda=b(mod n),c=d(modn),c=d(mod n)n) a+c=b+d(moda+c=b+d(mod n)n) We can rewrite bb and dd in the following way, n|(b−a)=>b−a=n∗pn|(b−a)=>b−a=n∗p (for some integer p) b=a+npb=a+np b=a+np,d=c+nqb=a+np,d=c+nq b+d=a+np+c+nqb+d=a+np+c+nq b+d=a+c+n(p+q)b+d=a+c+n(p+q) Now we have shown that our result is true, moving forward, 3=1(mod3=1(mod 2)2) x=1(modx=1(mod 2)2) Therefore the sum of three odd numbers can never be even. It will always be congruent to 1 in mod 2. ********ofcourse u don't expect me to be able to crack all this in this recession time so rather than cracked already cracked brain on the best combination between rice and beans relative to their cost due inflation, i simply went to google and copy the answer****** 1 Like |

Simple solution without breaking any rules. Use 11, 13 and 9. Fill the first two boxes upright with 11 and 13. In the third box, fill 9 upside down. 11+13+ 6=30 Click like if you believe my answer is the best and most logical. Click share if you don't. |

Re: You Think You Know Maths ? Try This. by mykey27: 9:01pm On Sep 30, 2016 |
If we say let the unknown be x, so the three numbers required are x, x+1 and x+2 Adding the three numbers and equating them to 30 X+x+1+x+2=30 3x+3=30 3x=30-3 3x=27 X=9 So the numbers are 9, 10 and 11. But 10 is not among the options. Hope that will help. |
