I chose 3,11 and 13 respectively...

look, 3! = 3x2x1 = 6

therefore, 3 = 6, an odd number transformed into an even number...

i also got mine.....and besides my approach and his approach are same all from the BINOMIAL COEFFICIENT....

every thing i used was in the bracket.......

he then introduce COMBINATION....i also introduce NUMBER BASE.....

all have binomial origins

This is NOT a properly formulated mathematical question. The addition of three integers from a set of odd numbers (even allowing repetitions) will never result in an even number.

FAIL!

The question is not correct because there is no way you can add 3 "odd" numbers to give you "even" number. Its impossible

My question had been merged with another one and as a result, I have added the previous answer to the present one. Hopefully this provides a clearer explanation.

Just using the numbers given there, it's not possible, because odd + odd = even, even + odd = odd. 30 is an even number, the answer of 3 odd numbers must be odd, it's a contradiction.
If what people say is true, then the question is wrongly phrased its any number of operations within those three brackets must lead to 30. Then it becomes a lot easier. Such as 15 + 7 + (7 + 1). That would give 30. But it assumes something that the question does not state explicitly and cannot be done that way. I still stick to my first point, it can't be done within the realm of math and just using three numbers, if not, then the latter is a way to solve it.
EDIT: This question has come up many times, Any odd number can be expressed as the following,

Let n,m,pn,m,p be an odd number,

n=1(modn=1(mod 2),m=1(mod2),m=1(mod 2),p=1(mod2),p=1(mod 2)2)

n+m+p=1+1+1(modn+m+p=1+1+1(mod 2)2)

Let's call n+m+pn+m+p as xx

=>x=3(mod=>x=3(mod 2)2)

Numbers in modulo n can be added, I'll write a small proof for it below,

a+c=b+d(moda+c=b+d(mod n)n)

We can rewrite bb and dd in the following way,

b+d=a+np+c+nqb+d=a+np+c+nq

Now we have shown that our result is true, moving forward,

x=1(modx=1(mod 2)2)

Therefore the sum of three odd numbers can never be even. It will always be congruent to 1 in mod 2.

Use 11, 13 and 9. Fill the first two boxes upright with 11 and 13. In the third box, fill 9 upside down.

If we say let the unknown be x, so the three numbers required are x, x+1 and x+2

Adding the three numbers and equating them to 30

X+x+1+x+2=30
3x+3=30
3x=30-3
3x=27
X=9

So the numbers are 9, 10 and 11. But 10 is not among the options. Hope that will help.
