Member representing Egor/Ikpoba Federal constituency of Edo state in the House of Representatives and chieftain of the PDP, Johnson Agbonayinma, has described the governorship election which threw up Mr Godwin Obaseki as governor elect as very transparent, adding that it is true reflection of the wishes of the people of the state.

Agbonayinma who stated this while congratulating Mr Obaseki who defeated his closest rival and candidate of his party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu with 319,483 votes as against 253,173 polled by Ize-Iyamu, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free and fair election in the state.

According to him, “I want to congratulate both Obaseki and INEC, Obaseki deserves it because it is the obvious that the generality of the people of the state wants him and that is democracy in action. For the fact that I am a PDP man does not mean I will not commend something good. I live in America and they don’t play do or die politics.So I congratulate Obaseki and I hope he will surpass Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s record because he has a huge challenge before him now.

“And for INEC, you see most times all of us blame INEC for inconclusive elections but you can see that it is not their fault with what happened in Edo state. There was no violence in that election, no killing, people came out freely and happily to cast their votes and you saw the result. So that will tell you that if we don’t witness violence INEC will always conclude elections.

“So we have to orientate our politicians not to see politics as a do or die thing. they should emulate what happened in my state Edo so that we will not continue to rubbish INEC.This has shown that if politicians behave themselves, INEC will do their job perfectly.”

The Edo governorship election was free and fair.Obaseki was sellable to Edo ppeople because he was not part of the government of chief Lucky igbinedion,who virtually everybody (including PDP supporters) admit performed very poorly as governor of Edo state.Edo people chose a man(Obaseki) who has the connections to bring private investors into the sate for massive job creations,over a seasoned politician (Ize Iyamu).

Bros you are correct. Oshiomhole tried as governor, but he is not a great governor. Oshiomhole did not do well in Agriculture and sport,which have the potential of taking thousands of youths from the street and unemployment market.I am more than 100% confident that Godwin Obaseki will run a govt that is at least five times better than that of Adams oshiomhole. Obaseki may not be as eloquent as Adams oshiomhole, but i know that he will do Edo people proud.

For the fact that I am a PDP man does not mean I will not commend something good. I live in America and they don’t play do or die politics.So I congratulate Obaseki and I hope he will surpass Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s record because he has a huge challenge before him now.

It seems you can't read between my lines. The House of rep member is a household enemy of the pastor because they belong to the same political family PDP,but at the same time he is speaking in support of the opposition which is definitely a setback to the narrative of his own family member.

Korea and China were equally destroyed and in bad shape before they made the bold step to sacrifice and ensure everyone is educated with a focus on science and engineering.

I hope that you will consider that WE the people allow the leaders represent us either they are elected, selected or shoot their way to leadership. They reflect our aggregate values. So if they are unserious, it is largely because we are even more unserious as their ordinary citizens and followers. Otherwise we will find ways to change them and replace them with those who reflect our collective values better.

PDP was there for 16 years they failed woefully, then apc was elected as replacement we thought they have better things to offer the country but everybody have seen it that they have nothing special to offer.

The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.

Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.

The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.

Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”

The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.

Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.

He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

Don't deceive people. How did you know the election was free when you were in America during the election and your mate have resume their legislative duties you are still in America? He was never in support of Ize Iyamu from day 1. He spearheaded the primary conducted by Sheriff. He is the leader of sheriff PDP in Edo.
