Ne0w1zarD:4 simple reasons to show that Edo governorship election was rigged and INEC is not independent. 1. Election monitors who were accredited before the election were prevented from entering the state collation centre. 2. Results from the field as collated by party agents were different from what INEC announced. 3. A party whose name did not appear on the ballot paper was allocated with votes. 4. The state governor was spotted at the INEC office at midnight prior to the day the results were announced and he was there for hours even though he was not a party agent. I think we should remove independent from INEC's name and be calling them National Electoral Commission, NEC, because it is obvious that there was premeditated arrangement to rig this election and all concerned should be ashamed. Some of us have identified these flaws but our partisan commitments have be clouded our sense of reasoning. I don't know how we can move forward as a nation with this corrupt acts. There in no worse corruption than what we have witnessed in Edo state. |

emmaelectelect:are you new to this country? Even if he goes to court, my broda, he will not get justice because those people that stole the mandate owns the court. The courts in this part of the world are manipulated by the power holders. |

it fun watching some people lament coz an election was lost. am neither a pdp fan nor apc supporter but watching from the sideline sweet die. i flashed back and thought, what gave pdp that much power in the past nd i reached a conclusion which is rigging together with their federal might. were we not alive in 2003 wen obasanjo rigged 33 out of 36 states for pdp. memories of how peoples were harassed in ekiti and osun state by the then federal gov. led by jonathan are still fresh in our memory. it's barely 1yr+ apc took over now and pdp have started crying foul. so the saying that nothing is permanent is through afterall. |

Kenechi1:Unfortunately you did not give details as to why you believe Edos made a mistake by preferring Obaseki. In actual fact Edos decision to reject Iyamu was borne out of the need not to repeat the mistake they made in 1999 by voting in the Lucky Igbinedion government which this same Iyamu was part of and which ruined Edo State so completely that Edo would have collapsed and got merged with another state if not for Oshiomhole's advent. Of all the 36 states Edo was the hardest hit by OBJ/PDP misrule from 1999 to 2007. Edos learn lessons from their past and don't forget easily. They also do not forgive. It is not like Ekiti where Fayose, after many years of being impeached for fraud, got voted back into power. Such can't happen in Edo. Iyamu had been tested in Edo State long ago and he failed. It is obvious you lack deep understanding of the nature and political philosophy of Edo people. That is the only state in Nigeria for now where people vote based on real issues only rather than the general Nigerian ethno-religious and mundane basis of voting. Let Obsseki fail us like Igbinedion/Iyamu failed us and you'll see Edo people change to another party totally different from PDP and APC. They could try APGA or even an Edo home grown party. Remember that Edo became an AC state before all the Yoruba States except Lagos? That tells you Edos don't care about all these tribal perceptions being attached to parties but the parties manifesto. |
