Hi all,

Please I need your professional advice on this. I want to own a blog and i'm a web developer(PHP & SQL based)

My question is,should I go through the rigours of building a CMS site for myself(also pay one or two fees here and there as I will need help) or should I save myself the stress and use wordpress.

In terms of long term monetary and aesthetic benefits, what are the pros and cons of using wordpress or a self-made blog?

Even if you are quite comfortable with php and mysql i really see no reason why you should build from scratch , why dont you just use Wordpress and improve on it to suite your taste,that way you can eliminate whatever cons you think Wordpress has after all its an Open Source software you can tweak the code

Why bother re-inventing the Wheel?
Use Wordpress and modify the shxt out of it.
