The Federal Executive Council yesterday approved a memo for the procurement of 320 operational vehicles for the Nigeria Prisons Service at the cost of N3.5bn.
Interior Minister, Abdulrahama Dambazau, while addressing State House reporters after yesterday’s FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, said this was aimed at strengthening the criminal justice system and de-congesting the prisons.

He said the procurement was from local manufacturers, assemblies and vendors and the effort was to follow through government’s policy to ensure that most procurement is done locally to provide opportunity for job creation and similar things.
The minister put the current prisoner population at 65,000, about 70 percent of who he said were awaiting trail due to lack of logistics because there are 5,022 courts that on daily basis have to transport prisoners to attend to their cases.

I can't wait to vote out this administration in 2019. If only the youths can present an independent candidate, fund his campaign via donations and support him massively with our votes in the presidential elections. This is the only way we can kick out these old clueless generals out of power and take our country back. Unfortunately, Nigerian youths are divided by tribalism, ethnicity, religion and abusing themselves because of APC/PDP as if they have anything to gain from the criminals they elected to represent them in Abuja and their various states.

The elites have access to forex but here we are buying a bag of rice for 25k. This hardship doesn't recognize your tribe or political affiliation. Let's take our country back from criminals

I wonder how some persons reason these days. Do they even read the stories at all or they just glance through the headline and the start posting rubish? The 320 operational vehicle is not the Pure Water Cars some you drive. We are talking about Black Marias, Vans, Trucks, Ambulances and Escorts Vehicles that will make administration of justice easier.

Any way, I will not blame some persons because if there had any one among the 70 percent of inmates on awaiting trial in our Prisons, they will know what the man is saying.
