15 Things President Buhari Is Doing To Cut down The Cost Of Governance And Reduce Wastage

1) Buhari and his vice took a paycut of 50% to symbolise their commitment to the cutting down on the cost of governance.

2) Buhari then directed the RMAFC to review and prune down the salary of all public office holder in the country. That review will only come into effect after the expiration of the tenure of the current office holders, as the constitution says RMAFC cannot review the salary to the disadvantage of public office holders the moment they get into office.

3) Buhari reduced the number of federal ministries from over 40 to just over 20. Buhari reduced the number of federal advisers by more than 50%.

4) Buhari has limited the number of his entourage on foreign trips to essential personnels only.
4b) Buhari implemented the TSA to plug leakages in every institution of government.

5) Buhari has used the BVN to fish out over 40,000 ghost workers, thereby saving billions of naira of monthly salary for Nigeria.

6) Buhari removed the fraudulent subsidy, thereby saving government trillions of naira of ANNUAL payment for a programme that was only oiling the pockets of the corrupt.

7) No Federal Minister in Buhari's cabinet can travel out of Abuja without Buhari's say-so, thereby cutting down on wasteful spending associated with aimless travels.

cool Buhari has restructured the NNPC into a profitable venture for the first time in ages, the waste and leakages associated with the corporation has been reduced drastically.

9) Before Buhari appointed his Ministers, he spent months plugging leakages in the Federal Civil Service and Revenue Generating Agencies, resulting in Nigeria having more revenue to fund the budget from the non-oil sector than the oil-sector, for the first time since oil was discovered in Nigeria. Before Buhari took over, the oil sector contributed to 85% of our national revenue.

10) And most recently, Buhari has ordered the sale of 2 presidential jets from a fleet of ten, and directed that some of the jets be transferred to the Airforce for operational purposes thereby saving security agency the purchase cost of new jets.

11) President Buhari turned down moves to procure new cars for his office, preferring to use the ones left behind by his predecessor.

12) President Buhari has reduced the import of certain items we have comparative advantage in producing, in order to reduce the waste of foreign reserves.

13) Buhari also liberalised the petroleum sector, allowing importers to source for forex themselves, thereby reducing the waste of foreign reserves.

15) President Buhari's fight against corruption has also brought in a new discipline in the way public office holders handle money, they are now aware that they may be called to give account of their spending later in the future.

The list of what Buhari is doing to cut down waste and reduce the cost of governance is almost endless. No other president in Nigeria has shown a greater commitment to this course than Buhari. It's true that Nigeria's problem is enormous and it becomes difficult to feel the immediate impact of what he is doing, but to sit down there and call him names because you don't know what he's doing is not only uncharitable but disrespectful

And he is still running from pillar to pole looking for where to borrow with all those monies he has saved.

He is planning to sell all our assets that is the back bone of our economy. Meanwhile, all the assets he wants to sell were aquired by his predecessors that he has been blaming.

I have never had if single asset accredited to Buhari that he aquired or initiated during days he was military President

Tell me if those his predecessors did not aquire those assets, what he have sold. Maybe Nigerians.

I will support him 100% if only he sells those assets acquired by him
Yeah you can't know any of the assets because you weren't born at that time. okay! wink

He didn't remove anything. What he did was transfer the burden to the masses. We are the ones paying subsidy to make life easy for Buhari and his looting looters.

The enthusiasm that comes with a new job. I could remember some months back when this same lady was still jostling for this position and saying that they worked for Buhari and not well compensated. Back to the so called 15 points madam stated, my opinions are;
Point 1: you took 50% pay cut and you are taking 50% of annual basic as HARDSHIP allowance? Wonderful cost saving measure.
Point 2: never heard about this but if so, good step.
Point 3: you reduced the number of ministries to 20 from 40 with the same volume of over bloated work force and the attendant high number of aides in this govt?
Point 4: guess Buhari's kids and the make-up artist we once read about are also essential personnel? Una welldone!
Point 5: nice one but BVN and the attendant verifications was commenced by the previous guys
Point 6: don't know if i should commend him for this or not cos we could have saved more than this if you guys had let GEJ remove this in 2011. Now after they had fleeced the country dry this was finally removed only to be replaced by a worse Forex scam that is killing our economy.
Point 7: No subordinate should take such action without his / her boss's clearance
Point 8: great restructuring of the nnpc but they are no where near profitable yet.
Point 9: don't even have strength to start with this cos this is where the genesis of our recession started.
Point 10: good job but more ACTIONS are needed here.
Point 11: great move worthy of commendation.
Point 12: Mr umeofia of Erisco foods gave a contrasting statement to this few days back threatening to shut down his factories.
Point 13: still don't understand how this is an achievement that saves cost. Is it not still within the same country these guys source their Fx from? Shouldn't you guys be talking about refineries working and importation ending?
Point 15: you mean the witch-hunt against corrupt divergent voices? A member of your saintly government recently spent $250 million cutting grasses while citizens are starving to death in IDPs.
Finally, Part of the distortion of facts known to you and your team in this present government, you gave us 14 points and you titled it 15 points, make una dey fear God oo.
Madam Onochie if your principal performs well, we don't need your epistle to know that
See full 15 points here, nobody distorted anything.

50% Cut in what specifically, salaries or allowances.. allowances are mostly between 200% to 300% higher than the basic salary. even with the cut, the allowances remain the same. This is where the real change should happen.. are senators still walking home with N30 million per month?
I know you recall the difference between the Executive and Legislative arms of govt. Would the lawmakers sit and slash their own pay?? Even top echelons in private organisations would do no such thing except it is unavoidable.

3JRXW66H8DIn this time of recession, I concede PMB has done much. However, I repeat there are many things PMB can do such as:
1. Emulate the current Tanzanian President
2. Fight corruption more agressively from all fronts, with tangible results within the shortest time possible
3. Eradicate employment and appointment based on nepotism
4. Diversify the economy after blocking leakages, income realized should declared and channel into viable income generating ventures
5. Replace ghost workers with competent and highly intelligent workers from private sector
6. Be more proactive rather than reacting to negative criticisms before taking actions
7. Obey the rule of law or appear to be obeying the rule of law, while carefully circumventing the rule of law, in dealing ruthless with terrorists, economic saboteurs, insane looters like Dasuki, separatist like Kanu and other high mischief makers. He should separate their offences, release them and rearrest them
8. Act on any whistle blowing like what Jibrin is being offering
9. Get capable hands to help you deliver on campaign promises, regardless of their political affiliation or creed
8. Curtail and contain the absolutely, the influence of family members like Daura
9. We need lots of scapegoats that are corrupt
10. Change should be visible with ur immediate family and all the families of political office holders and civil servants
11. Ban on medical tourism for all political office holders. Rather those in need of special attention should make arrangements for the foreign doctor to come to Nigeria and treat them here in Nigeria
12. Public declaration of assets and earnings on the Internet, for all political office holders and appointees
13. Introduction of robust data base to host PVN property verification number and CVN company verification number
14. All government official and agencies should have KPI and regular performance evaluation by both internal and external bodies
15. There should be public agreed and executed performance contract for all government officials at management level in the civil service and public services
16. Godfatherism should be criminalized
17. Inflow of foreigners must be regulated strictly. Foreign expertraites are only to be considered if local vendors cannot perform
18. Open a corruption registry for those with corruption cases and convictions accessible via internet
19. The current Nigerian police should be proscribed and it's personal redeployed to civil defence. In it stead , a new and very fresh police is to be introduced without the influence of the current police as it is
20. There should be financial reward and special recognition for whistle blowers
21. Government to adopt the services of mistery shoppers to weed out bad eggs
22. The office of minister of justice should be separated from that of Attorney General of the Federation. This can be done by empowering the Solicitor General who shall act within the powers of AGF, but without any interference from the AGF, as the office shall report directly to the president and shall be appointed periodically by lawyers for a fixed term
23. All government agencies should be commercialized and made to be self sufficient and reliant through agressively generating sufficient revenue e.g. NTA, Immigration, AGIS, etc
22. Introduction of large scale mechanized agriculture
23. Reduce your media aide to just one person like a Farooq Kperogi and create a media unit to accommodate the existing crowd
24. Maintain only 2 presidential planes and one helicopter. Others should be commercialized
25. Invite Peter Obi to support your economic team.
26. All government officials must only use made in or assembled in Nigeria cars like PAN and Innoson Motors. Including PMB , whose own can be specially assembled to make room for it to be a bullet proof beast.
Singular Honesty of PMB may not work in Nigeria. He we need functional systems and not only credible personality. A functional system will make all of us very credible as a matter of survival.
Will add more later.

Ex-Governor James Onanefe Ibori will gain his freedom in December after spending half of his jail term in the United Kingdom prisons. Ibori who was jailed for money laundering offences by Southwark Crown court in 2012 was formely the governor of Delta State.

Although it was not clear whether he will return home immediately being that legal proceedings concerning the confiscation of his assets worth millions of dollars were unresolved. They were supposed to have been resolved years ago, but have ground to a halt due to the allegations of police corruption and the prospect of Ibori taking his case to the Court of Appeal. A London court was on Friday told that Ibori would file an appeal against his conviction on the grounds of corruption on the parts of the British police and lawyers who were involved in his case.

I am in complete disagreement with your post. I saw the presidential fleet during the previous administration and I can categorically say there were Mercedes Benz S550/S600 in the fleet. Get your facts straight before jolly-riding.

Now, however, something may have been added/delivered since then (I recall it was the year 2014 when my findings were carried out) but do not misspell the facts. Even the Senate President had S550s in his fleet back then.

nigsta001:
pure lie there @ no.11....gotya

In terms of presidential cars, there is change indeed. While GEJ
was riding an ordinary Mercedes-Benz S 350, Muhammadu
Buhari prefers much more expensive and luxury model –
Mercedes-Maybach S600.
While both Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari prefer
Mercedes-Benz, it seems that Jonathan’s taste in cars is much
more simplistic than Buhari’s.
Jonathan attended the ceremony of Buhari’s presidential
inauguration inside an ordinary Mercedes-Benz S 350.
Muhammadu Buhari enjoys rides in much more comfortable and
luxury Mercedes model after stepping into the presidential office
– Mercedes-Maybach S600.
This car represents the top notch in the latest sixth generation of
luxury Mercedes-Benz special class cars, labelled by company
as the W222, while GEJ’s car belongs to the previous fifth
generation –the W221.
Mercedes-Benz representatives describe Mercedes-Maybach
S600 as “an extra highlight in the luxury segment.”
Available luxury appointments over and above what was offered
in the W221 include a choice of massage type for each seat
occupant, while the W221 offered various intensities of a single
massage type.
Mercedes-Maybach S600 in base-line configuration costs
around $258,000 or N51.6 million, while the price for the new
Mercedes-Benz S 350 is only $135,000 or N27 million.
Upgraded versions of these cars for world leaders cost tens of
thousands dollars more than their base-line configuration, but
include the capability to withstand small arms fire and explosive
devices, and a self-sealing fuel tank.

There have been huge scandals related to expensive car
purchases under Jonathan’s rule.
Members of a committee handpicked by President Goodluck
Jonathan to investigate the purchase of two BMW armored cars
at a whopping cost of $1.6 million were intensely pressured by
the former president to deliver a watery recommendation that
exonerates Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah.
The committee set up to probe the N255m bulletproof car
scandal in the aviation ministry has indicted the Minister, Ms.
Stella Oduah.

In as much as you state a few good points, you seem to be oblivious of the truth that the President in a democratic government does not have powers to do even half of those points, except with the help of the National Assembly and that very arm of government do not take lightly to dancing to executive tunes as we already know.

The last time a sitting President had so much authority over the arms of government was in the fourth republic and for those who forgot, he did not get their say/votes by lucid (if not legal) means. Point to note and always remember is that absolute power corrupts absolutely: the wrong man with such powers could potentially wipe us off the map!

I know you recall the difference between the Executive and Legislative arms of govt. Would the lawmakers sit and slash their own pay?? Even top echelons in private organisations would do no such thing except it is unavoidable.
so do we wait until it peaks and people start killing their children?

After the reductions he now increased the sufferings of Nigerians by 100%. Rubbish
Sadly, you are not suffering because of what he did, rather, you are suffering because of what he didn't do! That is to allow the stolen monies to get you to continue to enjoy a fake life!

Your enjoyment, your roads, good education, electricity etc. and other social amenities are still in that your government official brother's foreign accounts and similar accounts of people who have stolen you empty.

A thief broke into your house and emptied it yesterday and you are blaming someone that came to sympathise with you and see how he can help!
