Classic 1974 Cartoon That Shows Nigeria Has Not 'changed' by GurlFriend(op): 2:58pm On Oct 11, 2016
I saw the cartoon below and marveled

It is a 1974 cartoon titled 'Corruption fights Nigeria' by Dele Jegede.

Source: Daily Times, 1974

I was particularly struck by this comment from a Nigerian, Herbert Sowemimo: He wrote

Last week I shared a script written by a colonial officer in 1798 that stated amongst other things 'the corruption of black people in West Africa when left to their own devices'. That was 216 years ago... How many generations have passed and how many more do we need to change?
Poignant question.

Re: Classic 1974 Cartoon That Shows Nigeria Has Not 'changed' by PassingShot(m):
Democracy is not suitable for Africa. It has made things worse, much worse.

There are many countries doing very great without democracy. Why must we practice what is alien to us? See what the most expensive form of government has done to our dear nation! Corruption, division, hatred, bigotry, deceit, killing and maiming all because of political positions.

Na God go punish the colonial masters. Dem for leave us to our varous traditional monarchical systems. We will have found our ways to greatness naturally.

Before we get the anticorruption campaign right, we must first define what corruption is.
Re: Classic 1974 Cartoon That Shows Nigeria Has Not 'changed' by bennyann:
This just verifies corruption didn't start with GEJ. But of course, he's the only one they can pounce on cos he's got no voice. Them Don see scape goat.

When its as big as that in 1974, and from all the happenings in our country these days, I can tell it has gotten 100x bigger than that.

bro this is 21st century and i believe buhari should work with wisdom especially in a country like Nigeria where u dont just wake up and start fighting corruption, but one problem with Buhari is that he is not intellectually flexible, evrything must not be approached in a linear direction ........ GEJ said that u fight coruption by building institutions that will prevent corrupt practices, using technology and innovations and believe me thats the best way to tackle corruption in Nigeria. lemme refer you to what GEJ did in tackling corruption in the agricultural sector by developing the E-wallet system to prevent politicians from hijacking fertilizers meant for farmers http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/08/how-jonathan-stopped-politicians-from-hijacking-farmers-subsidized-fertilizers-adesina/.
Buhari has been tackling corruption for the past 15 months and i am yet to see any positive effects,

Evil Contraption called Nigeria.
Nothing has worked since the British criminals left their business venture meant for exploitation.

Nigeria is a big fraud put together by Britain, managed by Royal Niger criminal enterprise headed by cursed Lugard (Rest in Pieces).

For those shouting - "Nigeria will be great again", Nigeria has never been great and will never be, Nigeria is not a nation of same ideologies or outlook towards nation building, it is an amalgamation of different people who are trying to outdo each other with ethnic chauvinism, tribal war and nepotism.

No politician believes in Nigeria, except the money they make from it, and once they milk the country they invest in countries which they believe in.

The earlier One Nigerianists realize, the better for every one of us.

NIGERIA is a very corrupt contraption put together for fun and exploitation of British men.
