.... The use of steam engines laid the foundation for the industrial revolution which led to colonization, the world wars, the cold war, the birth of the internet and, thus, the eventual emergence of the world powers, as it is today....

Now, as regards the use of smartphones, it is laying the foundation for another wave of advancement in human history, the smartphone is becoming more than just a mere tool for calls and text messaging, its becoming beyond that..... hope you get my point wink
