The Senate has demanded that the recruitment of 10,000 personnel into the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, be suspended.
The Senate, it was gathered, cited irregularity in the criteria set for the exercise.
Senate Committee on Police gave the suspension order in a letter it wrote to the Police Service Commission, PSC, last week and also forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari.
After initial hiccups, the recruitment, which finally took off in August, was discovered to be lopsided.
Earlier, stakeholders had agreed that the recruitment would be based on local government areas, Daily Trust reports.
But the commission allegedly decided to base the exercise on equal number per state, claiming orders from above.
Protests letters were sent to the Senate, with stakeholders demanding that the commission restricts itself to the recruitment of cadet ASPs, its statutory responsibility, while Force Headquarters handles the enlistment of those on inspectorate cadre and below.

You have honestly abused the usage of "very sure"!

No minimum age was stated for specialists... disqualification (as regards age requirement)was based on year of birth earlier than 1984 for specialists.

Isn't this two statements contradictory in it's own self?If it will b the most credible in history, then y as it become the duty of governors to shortlist Asp applicants?

evening everyone.
I have been following the trend for quite a while. And am not surprise with the amount of rumuor, half truth, gossip and grapevine going on. I personally won't blame anyone for circulating adulterated informations. When you don't know what to buy; people can sell you anything. bellow are the fact I have gathered. they are not necessary all 100%, but it will cure you anxiety and correct your pulse.
1: PSC have move to Jigawa...this is certain, with pressure mountain like acid rain, the PSC have like a crawling child move to Jigawa to conclude the recruitment. 99.9% correct!
2: Next Phase might not be medical; contrary to report of next phase being medical; if the NPF want everyone enlisted having medical; the will simply used the next 6 months; medical will be in camp. 60% certain.
3: recruitment has not been cancel, suspended or adjoined; now for those of you that are having unusually pulse about the health of the recruitment; yes we were suppose to be in camp in July, yes it taking time......malaria, fever....but never cancer! there were hitches. plus the APC government have had a lot of bad blood,Now just like the ministerial list, the government want to take there time. now I don't dont how transparent it will be. not everyone that has God father will get, and not all that don't know Okiro will be abandon. 100%.
4; now for those feeding people with cramps and craps about an increase in slot; it is a lie!!!!!!!!! lie!!!!!!!!! increase......will keep you posted tomorrow on more! I am the observer

Re: Nigeria Police 2016 Recruitment Of 10,000 Personnel by Africanblack: 4:38pm On Oct 11, 2016
Haven read and understood the news article relating to the police recruitment from both NEW TELEGRAPH and DAILY TRUST, I was able to lift the following important points.

1. "It was gathered that PSC Chairman, Sir Mike Okiro, and his Commissioners have since relocated to one of the North-West states, to conclude the recruitment exercise."---NEW TELEGRAPH

2. “Until there is a counter order or directive from the Presidency, the Commission will stick to the stateby- state arrangement, which complies with relevant laws”---PSC SOURCE

3. "MIKE Okiro and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Abu Ibrahim, will meet President Muhammadu Buhari this week".---NEW TELEGRAPH SOURCE

4. "when contacted yesterday (Sunday 9th oct.), the spokesman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) Ikechukwu Ani, said the recruitment exercise had not been suspended. He added that the exercise was still on, explaining that the officials of the commission just finished a field exercise on the recruitment process."-----DAILY TRUST

My Observation from the above quotes:

1. The exercise has been concluded and PSC is ready to release the list of successful candidates and to equally proceed with the next phase of the recruitment process.

2. PSC and other stake holders are meeting with PMB today (Oct 11th) to brief him on the progress made so far and to equally seek his opinion concerning the anti-constitutional local govt by local govt noise emanating from the National Assembly.

3. The list that would be released is the final, after medicals whoever does not meet up with the medical requirement will simply pack his/her bag and go home. Such person could be replace by the people on the reserve list.

PS: You guys should just relax, focus on other things, keep on applying for other openings, do not be overly expectant, and above all don't let the outcome of the exercise put you down or make you proud. Thanks.

I met with a police officer earlier today and I asked him why the delay in the recruitment process. He explained to me that the Senate had instructed the Commission to suspend the recruitment exercise as there are no provisions for such in the budget and as such the recruitment exercise cannot be funded.

Bro, the police never wanted to fall his reputation by telling you he knows nothing about the delay. this recruitment was announced since last year, it has full provision in the 2016 budget; Infact the allocated fund for it has been released long ago. Soon everything will be out. Only God knows how soon.

No cause for alarm. However from past recruitment into military or any force, those with younger age are considered first and most. I have learnt of cases where godfathers were asked to change candidates because of age. Infact, the younger you are with necessary qualifications, the brighter your chances.

good evening all.
it's the observer again.
recap from my previous post; recruitment has not been cancel, there won't be massive medicals, and there is no increase in slot or allocation.
i was able to get in touch with an auditor in PSC. via a call; Before MTN network cease completely. we didt finish our discussion. But like I promise to keep intouch; am relating to you. What I was able to get from him is a confirmation that the recruitment is still alive. yes living good.
he also confirm to me that it never true at anywhere in the world, at any point in time that people were able to see there names.
NEVER TRUE.
His Voice tune unlike my previous meeting with him lack alacrity or usual enthusiasm he usually poses. it's quit obvious to confirm that there are hiccup and hitches in the process. but he assured me the list will be out between; middle to ending of this month. he also said he is not sure we will be in camp this year. maybe early Jan. HE is not Ibrahim nor Okiro.
Nairaland I am a train Journalist; I have written a lot of articles.
I will not want to dent my reputation. all the information I relate are what am quite sure of.
I have no contact with Okiro, Ibrahim. but if things don't change before weekend, I will be travelling to see him. And I promise to dig more fact and share. it's the observer again!!!!!!!!! Bon Nuit
