The discovery of oil will make no difference as long as we have the wrong system in place. I will never be impressed with any government that cannot revive our refineries so it can produce to full capacity.

They will still export the crude out and import refined products. We gain from the export and lose our foreign exchange to import. It will still be a Merry go round.

Again, with this money pumped into the exploration, where then is the sincerity of the diversifation to agricultural sector? If this monies where invested in agriculture, we will not be where we are today.

Before oil came, naira was stronger than the dollar. Agriculture was our major source of foreign exchange. Now, we have oil, individuals are only enriched at the expense of the nation. They will build refineries abroad and make the nation's refineries dysfunctional. What then is the joy of the new discovery?

It's a shame, a nation that cannot pay workers but have the money to invest in exploration so they can do more exploitation.

A nation that imports virtually anything.

A nation where the salaries of the executive arms are enough to pay state workers.

Wake up Nigerians and stop the shout of praise. Our leaders don't have our interest at heart. All they do are for selfish purposes.

Give me this nation, we will be out of recession in 6 months.

You have spoken very well. But about giving you the nation and coming out of recession, am not very sure about that bcus even those in Government now promised to do better if elected. A preacher once told us a story of an African activist who eventually got elected into office, to the greatest suprise of the people he stopped talking as he used to and he stopped fighting for the interest of the people. This man was interviewed and they asked him why the sudden change in his attitude towards govt, he told them he is an african and it is against the african tradition to talk while eating.

Oil discovery in Northern naija is long overdue. So, it's not a surprise to me. As for corruption, Niger Delta political/traditional leaders are most corrupt than any other region in the entire naija. Quote me anyday, anytime and I will show you proofs

Its no brainer that oil is waiting to also be found in the Nigerian side of the Chad Basin since the same geology extends into its already oil producing neighbouring borders. Same also applies to the Benue trough and the Sokoto/Niger axis.
Very soon the north will also be swimming in its own oil and the real hateful parasites will be silenced for good - as they are already silenced by their visible absence from this thread.

Finally you Northerners can leave us a long and build ur nations like Dubai rite ... I can't wait for a Life knowing that the northerners are our neighbouring country ..
Thank God for the announcement because I knew there was oil in the River basin before now.

Serious trouble that. Now farmers in the north would stop farming entirely all in the hope that oil would bring them the proverbial golden goose egg. Now we will be back to importing food.

BTW, how do they export this oil now? I know Kaduna refinery would work buh ....we need the dollars grin

The north has no oil but they have filling stations every where, it's more like the northerners are more dependent on oil...... If God wanted Nigeria to break up, there would have been oil in the north especially KANO.... north is systematically stealing and also looking for oil...If oil was found in the north, they would have separated from Nigeria a long time ago...If they had found oil, they would have been shoutin that Allah has blessed them and they are not supposed to share the oil money with infidels....God will never allow oil to be found in the north...

I think one of the the major problems of this country is lack of empathy. We don't care about what the other person feels so long as it does not affect us.

Baba forget all dos agitation you are refering to jare , i am from the niger delta and i thing i know better wen it comes to all dis ,nobody is agitating because their communities were poluted or they were not given jobs , agitators are trouble makers and do you know that communities get money from companies that some people pocket for their own use? Also do you know that companies give jobs slots to host community for indigenes which some people sell to non indigenes ? Militancy is a hunger quenching race that the master minders are d only people flexing d largess and not d community or d main pipo feeling d effect of d pipe line wen only den nai blow
